Imagine being on a roller-coaster with the vast ocean beneath you. Or hobnobbing with cartoon characters that have been your friends since childhood. And, exploring fantastical larger-than-life spaces as you sail on a vast cruise ship.
This is what Disney is offering on its cruise, aptly titled Disney Adventure, which is set to sail in Asia for the first time in December next year. And, because it’s Disney, expect an experience that is colourful, action-packed and where the fun never stops.
As Sarah Fox, vice-president and regional general manager, southeast Asia, Disney Cruise Line, said at a recent unveiling of the offerings at Singapore: “Sailing on primarily three- and four-night voyages designed with only dedicated days at sea, the ship will include something for everyone. From fun and interactive spaces for kids, to relaxing venues for adults to unwind, to entertaining and engaging places for families to enjoy together, guests will find endless adventures from bow to stern.”
The ship will have seven themed areas that will bring together the worlds of Disney, Pixar and Marvel: Disney Imagination Garden, Toy Story Place, San Fransokyo Street, Town Square, Wayfinder Bay, Disney Discovery Reef and Marvel Landing. Marvel Landing will be a true adventure zone with Avengers-level adventures on three all-new attractions and experiences inspired by iconic Marvel Super Heroes.
On Ironcycle Test Run, a 250-metre-long (820 feet) rollercoaster, be suspended up to 9 metres (30 feet) above the upper decks. Aboard the Pym Quantum Racers, steer the Pym Tech-modified mini-cars on an oversized toy set track, and at Groot Galaxy Spin, get onto a ride onboard a Nova Corp Bass Jumper, set to upbeat music. On the upper decks, Toy Story Place will inspire guests to explore, play, connect and have fun in a whimsical water play land where Toy Story will spring to life. The water features include a large family pool, multiple whirlpools, towering water slides and interactive splash pads.
In San Fransokyo Street, the Big Hero Arcade is a family gaming lounge, with the star attraction being the Hiro Training Zone, an immersive training simulator where groups of four can run, dodge and block their way across a high-tech gaming floor. The cruise will also offer stageshows and Broadway-style entertainment, with two theatrical productions — Remember, an all-new musical spectacular developed exclusively for the Disney Adventure, will be a tale featuring the Wall-E and other Disney stars. Disney Seas the Adventure will be a musical journey through stories featuring iconic Disney songs and characters. “They have never appeared on stage before. So this is the first time these characters will have been seen live,” said Jenny Weinbloom, vice-president (live entertainment) of Disney Signature Experiences.
And, at the heart of it all, Disney Imagination Garden will have a state-of-the-art Garden Stage with three-deck-high LED screens, with an open-air, amphitheatre-style seating. This area will host several shows starring Disney and Marvel characters, including Let’s Set Sail, a high-energy dance party that will jumpstart the fun on embarkation day; Avengers Assemble!, an epic battle of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains; Captain Jack Sparrow & the Siren Queen, an adventure helmed by Captain Jack Sparrow; Mickey’s Color Spin Dance Party, a vibrant and energetic celebration for Disney music lovers of all ages; and Baymax Super Exercise Expo, a musical exercise show inspired by the members of Big Hero 6.
This is Disney Cruise Line’s first offering in Asia, and it is particularly eyeing the Indian market. Sharon Siskie, senior vice-president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line, commented: “When the Disney Adventure sets sail in December 2025, guests throughout southeast Asia will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Disney, Pixar and Marvel stories in their very own backyard.”
The ship will have a range of accommodation and a host of food and beverage options, including ‘Mowgli’s Eatery’, which will offer vegetarian and regional dishes from India, inspired by Mowgli’s epic journey through the jungles of India in The Jungle Book.
For the adults, there are spa and fitness offerings including yoga, cycling and wellness consultations. A variety of bars and lounges throughout the ship are available for drinks and some quiet time.
Bookings open on December 10 this year, and the ship with a capacity of 6,700 persons sets sail on December 15, 2025.
