The Commission has not yet announced the release date and time for the UPSC CSE Prelims Admit Card. It is expected that the UPSC CSE Prelims E-Admit Card might be released today, June 3, 2024. However, this date is tentative.
The exam will be conducted in two sessions:
– The General Studies (GS) Paper will be held in the morning session from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
– The Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) will be held in the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
40 vacancies have been reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category.

– The UPSC CSE prelims exam will comprise two compulsory papers, each worth 200 marks.
– Both question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions) and each will have a duration of two hours.
– The General Studies Paper-2 of the civil services (preliminary) examination will be a qualifying paper with a minimum qualifying mark set at 33 percent.
– The UPSC CSE 2024 question papers will be set in both Hindi and English.
There will be negative marks for incorrect answers in the UPSC CSE 2024 prelims as detailed below:
(i) Each question has four alternatives. For every incorrect answer, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty.
(ii) If a candidate selects more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer, even if one of the selected answers is correct. The same penalty as above will apply.
(iii) If a question is left blank, i.e., no answer is provided by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
Every eligible candidate has as many as six attempts to clear the UPSC exam. Candidates belonging to the OBC and PwBD categories will get nine attempts.

The UPSC Civil Services preliminary examination consists of two objective-type papers (multiple-choice questions), carrying a maximum of 400 marks in the subjects outlined in sub-section (A) of Section 2.
Those candidates declared by the Commission to have qualified in the preliminary examination will be eligible for the main examination, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria.
If a candidate does not receive their UPSC CSE admit card or any other communication regarding their candidature for the examination by the last working day of the week preceding the exam date, they should immediately contact the commission.
Information regarding the admit card can also be obtained from the facilitation counter at the commission’s office, either in person or by calling 011-23381125, 011-23385271, or 011-23098543. If no communication is received by the commission from the candidate regarding non-receipt of the UPSC CSE prelims admit card at least three days before the examination, the candidate will be solely responsible for not receiving the admit card. No candidate will be allowed to take the examination without the UPSC admit card for the preliminary examination. Upon downloading the e-admit card, check it carefully and report any discrepancies or errors to UPSC immediately.
The qualifying students will be eligible for the Mains exams. An interview round will follow the CSE Mains exam.
