Earlier, provisional answer keys for the exams held from August 27 to September 4, 2024, were made available, allowing candidates to challenge the answers.
The final results will be determined using the updated answer keys. In the UGC NET exam, candidates were awarded two marks for each correct answer, with no penalty for incorrect responses. Unanswered or marked-for-review questions did not earn points. For questions with multiple correct answers, candidates received credit for any correct option, and if a question was found to be incorrect, two marks were awarded to those who attempted it.

If a question is deemed incorrect and dropped, two marks will be awarded only to candidates who attempted the question. This could be due to either human or technical error.

In the UGC NET 2024 exam, if a question is found to be incorrect or ambiguous with multiple correct answers, only candidates who attempted the question and selected one of the correct answers will receive credit in the final result.
The exam, conducted on June 18 in over 317 cities across India, saw over 9 lakh candidates participate. It gained media attention following reports of a paper leak, leading to the exam’s cancellation. However, a CBI investigation later revealed that no paper leak had occurred.
