GATE Registration: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will close the registration window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 today, without any late fee.
Candidates who have not yet applied must complete their registration through the official portal, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, by the end of the day. Applicants need to log in using their Enrollment ID and password to submit their forms.
Candidates who miss today’s deadline can still register by October 9, by paying the applicable late fee. As stated on the official website, all dates are subject to change.
GATE 2026 exam: Schedule and results
IIT Guwahati, the organising institute for this edition, will conduct GATE 2026 on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026. Results are expected to be declared on March 19, 2026.
Additionally, the institute has assured students of smooth scheduling for core papers despite concerns about clashes with the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE).

-Register with personal details, fill in the required information, upload supporting documents, and pay the applicable fee.

GATE 2026 registration: Exam Structure
GATE 2026 will feature a total of 30 test papers. A new sectional paper on Energy Science (XE-I) is being introduced within the Engineering Sciences (XE) category.
Candidates can appear for one or two test papers only, and if choosing two, the combination must be selected from the official list.
Only a single application form needs to be filled even if candidates appear for two papers. All GATE 2026 papers will be conducted in English and will consist entirely of objective-type questions.
