College Vidya, an ed-tech platform has announced the enrollment of more than 10,000 students in its online courses over the past year. It claims to target 20,000 student enrollments in the year 2024. Programmes including MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA and B.COM have become exceedingly popular among students, reflecting a growing inclination towards online education in India. Among the course preferences, 90% of students have opted for comprehensive, long-format courses and degrees, while the remaining 10% have favored short-term skill development courses, according to an official release.
In response to the evolving landscape of online education, College Vidya plans to expand its offerings of short-term courses and increase awareness initiatives in 2024. The student demographics of College Vidya’s platform in 2023 encompassed a range of individuals with varying objectives, including career advancement, promotions, career transitions and even individuals rebounding from business setbacks and seeking new opportunities, the release mentioned.
“We cater to diverse students seeking career growth, promotions, career switches and business setbacks. With a target of 20,000 students in 2024, we aim to expand our offerings and provide holistic support through the CV Community,” Rohit Gupta, co-founder and COO, College Vidya, said.
Further analysis revealed that 30% of enrolled students were women. Notably, only 2% of students had more than 10 years of work experience, indicating a trend of regular upskilling on the platform. College Vidya aims to promote greater female participation through its latest short film, ‘Degree of Freedom,’ and aims for a more balanced representation, with nearly 45% female learners out of the targeted 20,000 students in 2024, as per the release.
