West Bengal Elections 2021: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today released a video statement from the SSKM Hospital saying that she will soon return to the election campaign. She said that she will use a wheelchair if needed. The CM also urged supporters to maintain peace and not to take any steps which may create trouble for others. She said that she has suffered bone fracture and ligament injury during yesterday’s ‘attack’. Earlier today, Purba Medinipur District Police registered a case over attack on Banerjee following a complaint lodged by TMC leader Shiekh Sufian. A team of district officials including Purba Medinipur District Magistrate Vibhu Goel and SP Praveen Prakash among others visited Birulia Bazar in Nandigram where Banerjee was allegedly attacked and was injured. The senior district officials inquired about the incident and spoke to eye-witnesses. The officers also looked for any CCTV installed in the area to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
A TMC delegation comprising of MP Derek O’Brien, state ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya and Partha Chatterjee today met Election Commission officials and filed a complaint in the case of the alleged attack on CM Banerjee. Speaking to reporters, TMC MP Derek O’Brien said, “Those responsible for this heinous incident need to be brought to book. It was in such poor taste that within 30 minutes, there were other kinds of statements. We condemn those statements.” A BJP team also met the Election Commission and urged for an inquiry into the incident. West Bengal BJP chief today called for a CBI probe into the incident. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was injured during her campaign in Nandigram last evening, had claimed that she was manhandled and pushed by some men leading to an injury in her left leg. The Chief Minister said that she was standing outside her car with the door open and few people came there and pushed the door that hit her leg. She alleged that she was pushed by four-five men while she was trying to get into the car, following which she fell flat on her face. Several leaders have condemned the attack and wished her a speedy recovery.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was injured during a poll campaign yesterday and later admitted to the SSKM Hospital for treatment, has taken to another building of the hospital for further medical tests. TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee was also present at the hospital during this reported ANI.

West Bengal Election 2021: The Trinamool Congress today slammed the Election Commission for failing to provide proper security to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was injured during poll campaign in Nandigram, and said the EC can't shun responsibility as it is in charge of law and order situation in the poll-bound West Bengal. The party claimed that the attack was a 'deep-rooted conspiracy to take the life of Banerjee. TMC leaders said anti-social elements have been mobilised from the neighbouring states by the BJP in Nandigram to unleash violence. Accusing the EC of acting 'as per orders' of the BJP leaders, the TMC delegation, after meeting the EC officials, alleged that the 'Election Commission did nothing despite there being reports of a possible attack on Banerjee'.
A delegation of the BJP also met EC officials and demanded a thorough probe into the incident in which Banerjee got injured in Nandigram the previous day. 'The law and order situation in Bengal was good. But, after the announcement of elections, law and order become the responsibility of the EC. 'The EC removed DGP of the state police, and the very next day she was attacked,' TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said. (PTI)
West Bengal Elections 2021: Matter of rejection of nomination of the TMC candidate from Joypur Assembly, Ujjwal Kumar was taken up for hearing at Calcutta High Court today. The court passed an order setting aside the rejection, permitting him to contest polls based on nomination papers submitted by him. Earlier, the Election Commission had rejected the nomination of Ujjwal Kumar.

The Trinamool Congress today postponed the release of its manifesto for the West Bengal polls, following the alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
BJP's West Bengal unit president Dilip Ghosh has demanded a CBI probe into the alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said that it needs to be seen whether the incident was a "well-scripted drama" to garner votes. Speaking to reporters, Ghosh said, "It needs to be probed what actually happened. How come a Z-plus protectee gets attacked is a matter that has to be looked into. The state should order a CBI probe to bring out the truth."

Dr M Bandopadhya, IPGMER & SSKM Hospital, yesterday said tha tinitial examination suggested severe bony injuries in her left ankle, foot and bruises, injuries in right shoulder, forearm and neck. The CM complained of chest pain, breathlessness since the incident.
