Cold-day conditions and fog will continue to batter some parts of northwest India including Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, and in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated.
Dense fog will continue to prevail for a few hours in the morning in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh from January 10-14, causing disruptions to daily life and impacting visibility.
Further, isolated pockets in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha to witness fog conditions on January 10 and 11.
On Tuesday, visibility in some parts of Uttar Pradesh was down to a mere 50 metres, while isolated pockets of Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana-Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha experienced dense fog with visibility ranging from 50 to 200 metres, according to the Met Department.
“Fog conditions observed (at 0530 IST of today): Very Dense fog (visibility < 50 metre) in some parts of Uttar Pradesh; Dense fog (visibility 50-200 metre) in isolated pockets of Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana-Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha,” said Met Department on mentioned on Tuesday.
Minimum temperatures to remain same
No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over East India during the next 24 hours and fall by 2-4°C during the subsequent 3 days.
Besides, no significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over Central India during the next 48 hours and fall by 2- 4°C during the next 3 days.
Further, ground frost conditions are very likely over Uttarakhand during January 10-12, 2024.
The minimum temperatures on Tuesday were in the range of 7-10°C over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, north Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal & Sikkim recorded temperatures between 11-13°C. The lowest minimum temperature of 6.0°C was reported at Narnaul (Haryana).
Rainfall update
Owing to a cyclonic circulation over southeast & adjoining east-central Arabian, light to moderate rainfall at some places is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep during the next 3 days.
