Tripura Election Results 2023: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a second term in the north-eastern state of Tripura. The results are in the keeping with the exit polls predictions which had predicted a return of the saffron party in the state. Polling for the 60-member Tripura Assembly took place on February 16, which witnessed a voter turnout of 89.98 per cent. From the Town Bardowali constituency, Chief Minister Manik Saha won and Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma of the BJP was defeated by Subodh Deb Barma of the Tipra Motha party.
In the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP won 36 seats, while its ally IPFT bagged 18 constituencies. The CPI(M)-led Left Front emerged victorious in 16 seats, while the Congress drew a blank.
Tripura Election Results Highlights: Counting of votes is underway and trends show that BJP as crossed the halfway mark in the 60-member Tripura Assembly.
The BJP-led alliance was seen leading on 26 seats in the 60-seat Assembly, first trends showed on Thursday. The Left-Congress alliance and the TIPRA Motha Party were leading on 15 and 14 seats, respectively.

Counting begins to decide the fate of the 60-member Tripura Assembly.
Chief Minister Manik Saha contested from Town Bardowali constituency and Union minister Pratima Bhowmik fought the polls as BJP candidate from Dhanpur.
Tipra Motha, a regional party led by Pradyot Debbarma, a member of Tripura's erstwhile royal family, is also expected to make its presence felt. The BJP has allied with IPFT (Indigenous People's Front of Tripura), its partner in the previous assembly polls. The BJP contested 55 seats of 60-member assembly in Tripura. The Left Front fielded candidates in 47 seats and Congress on 13. Tipra Motha fought 42 seats and Trinamool Congress put up candidates on 28 seats.
The counting of votes of 60 assembly constituencies in Tripura will be held in 21 counting locations across the state.
