A Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee, Manav Sharma, was found dead at his residence in Agra on February 24. Sharma took the extreme step reportedly due to persistent harassment from his wife after being married for just a year. Authorities were alerted promptly after his body was found hanging in his house.

The complaint was registered after a WhatsApp message received by the Sadar Police on Thursday night. Before taking his life, Sharma recorded a seven-minute long video on his phone. He was visibly distressed, teary eyed he left a message for the society to “think and talk about men”. While acknowledging the struggles men face in the society, he apologised to his parents for his decision.

With emotions choking him up and eyes swelling up he addressed the law enforcement directly urging the authorities. Considering the plight for men he said, “This message is for the authorities-the police, the legal system. Men need protection too. If things continue this way, there will come a time when men won’t be left, when there will be no one left to take the blame.”

A formal inquiry has been launched by the investigating team to weigh in the circumstances surrounding his death and cross-check the claims made by Manav’s family. According to the video he shared he had discovered that his wife was involved with another man emphasising his helplessness in the situation.

In his plea before death, “someone please talk about men, they are lonely”. He held up his wrist confirming his previous suicide attempts. Manav was a Senior Process Associate at TCS and an alumni of DAV College Chandigarh.
