Lok Sabha polls 2024 are taking place and there seems to be a tough fight between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress party.

The saffron party has fielded Ramesh Awasthi and grand old party Congress has showed confidence in Alok Mishra. Both had filed their nomination papers on Saturday.

In Uttar Pradesh state, Kanpur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 80 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies.

Lok Sabha Polls 2024

Lok Sabha elections are being held between 19 April and 1 June 2024 in seven phases, to elect 543 members of the Lok Sabha. On 4 June 2024, the votes will be counted, and the results will be announced.

In history, this is the largest-ever election. It surpassed the 2019 Indian general poll. The polls will last 44 days, second only to the 1951–52 national elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running for a third consecutive term.

Around 970 million people out of a population of 1.4 billion are qualified to vote.
