India-Italy ties expand under strategic partnership
The Prime Minister also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora during his visit and attended cultural performances organised in his honour. He met several community members, including spiritual leader Svamini Shuddhananda Ghiri, who said the Sanatana Dharma Samgha had been officially recognised as a religion by the Italian Parliament.
Modi’s Italy visit comes as India and Italy continue to expand cooperation under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029. The partnership focuses on areas including trade, defence, clean energy, technology, innovation and investment. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached USD 16.77 billion in 2025, while cumulative Italian foreign direct investment in India stood at USD 3.66 billion between April 2000 and September 2025.
Before arriving in Italy, Modi visited Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates as part of his multi-nation diplomatic outreach.

Estonia’s Foreign Minister wants PM Modi to visit European country
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna called on PM Modi to visit the country, saying that such high-level trips focused on deepening bilateral ties would be “very happy.”
