Speaking to Food & Hospitality World on the company’s expansion plans, Sangram Sawant, founder and CEO, Pescafresh, informed, “The brand works in multiple formats, and going ahead we will be penetrating further into the four markets – Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad – where we are present in to increase our current formats. Today, we have close to 42 outlets in these cities. However, by March next year we plan to scale up by 94 outlets in these cities. For the HORECA space, we plan to launch our vertical soon and provide niche and imported products. We have received a good feedback and gained control of the supply chain management of the Norwegian salmon. We feel that this product has a lot of scope and is available throughout the year.”

The brand has also developed its own e-commerce ready offering through localbanya and the hyper-local mobile app, Grofers. The company plans to launch the new e-commerce ready website version of the brand followed by its own mobile app that will ease the ordering process of seafood.

Elaborating on the market, Sawant opined, “In terms of the industry that we are working in, it is a 9.3 kg per capita consumption industry wherein 600 million people in this country are non-vegetarians, as per the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations. It is still an unorganised market, which has huge potential, and I think our company is well placed to organise this space.”
