MP Assembly Election 2023 Live Updates: As the Madhya Pradesh polling is underway, two persons were injured following stone-pelting between two groups at two polling booths — 147 and 148 — of the Dimani Assembly constituency in Mirdhan village in the Morena district, reports PTI.
Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar is contesting from the constituency.
Morena Superintendent of Police (SP) Shailendra Singh said that a clash between two groups was reported from the area over attempts to stop voters from casting their ballots.
“Two persons identified as Ajay Sharma and Rampratap Sharma were injured by sticks in the fight,” the SP said, adding that reports about bullet injuries in incorrect.
Police said that the situation was now under control and adequate security deployment has been made at the spot in the wake of the incident.
Voting for Madhya Pradesh’s 230 assembly seats began at 7 AM which will go on till 6 PM. In the Baihar, Lanji, and Parswara assembly seats of Balaghat district and some booths in Mandla and Dindori districts, which have Naxal dominance, polling will end at 3 PM.
Nearly 700 companies of the central forces and two lakh police personnel of the state have been deployed for security during the poll.
