West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming Bangladesh visit.
West Bengal’s Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee confirmed this via a series of tweets on the official twitter account of Trinamool Congress (TMC).
“West Bengal Chief Minister is visiting Dhaka on June 6,” tweeted Chatterjee.
“WB CM is visiting Dhaka for the signing of Land Boundary Agreement. Hope it will cement the ties of India and Bangladesh further,” he added.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also had a telephonic conversation with West Bengal Chief Minister on the matter.
Prime Minister will be visiting Bangladesh from June 6-7.
A release by the Ministry of External Affairs stated that Prime Minister Modi is making the trip on the invitation of his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, and his visit will expand the relationship between New Delhi and Dhaka and strengthen the ties of friendship and trust between the two nations.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will also meet Bangladesh President Mohammad Abdul Hamid.
This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Bangladesh.
