West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered an injury on her forehead in a minor car accident when she was on the way to Kolkata on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters, the CM said that she wouldn’t have survived had her driver not pressed the brakes, adding that she got a little injured due to the accident.
“While we were on our way, a vehicle came from the other side and was about to dash into my car; I wouldn’t have survived if my driver had not pressed the brakes. Due to sudden braking, I hit the dashboard and got a little injured. I am safe because of blessings of people,” she told reporters after meeting Governor CV Ananda Bose at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata.
The incident took place when Banerjee was returning from Bardhaman to Kolkata by road. Her car immediately applied brakes as another car came in front of the CM’s convoy, sources told ANI.

Banerjee, who was seated in front beside the driver, was injured after her head hit the windscreen, an official told PTI.
“Due to bad weather, she didn’t return by helicopter,” according to sources.

The Chief Minister was in East Bardhaman – over a 100 km from Kolkata – to chair an administrative review meeting.
