Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2023 Voting Highlights: Voting to elect MLAs from 230 Assembly constituencies picked pace in the final stretch with 76.22 per cent voter turnout recorded till 5 PM, provisional data of the Election Commission of India showed. The figure stood at 75.6 per cent in the 2018 polls. Polling began at 7 AM on Friday across the 230 Assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh, including 47 reserved for ST and 35 for the SC. Voting was scheduled to continue till 6 pm at all polling stations except those in Naxal-affected areas of Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori districts where it ended at 3 PM. A total of 64,626 polling stations have been set up across the state. There are 2,533 candidates in the fray, including political heavyweights like Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his predecessor and rival Kamal Nath.

Prominent among those who voted early include Chouhan and his family, Nath along with his family, Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, state BJP president VD Sharma, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya home minister Narottam Mishra, sports and youth welfare minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia, industries minister Rajvardhan Singh Dattigaon and state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anupam Rajan. Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s son and former minister Jaivardhan Singh, who is contesting from Raghogarh, also cast his ballot along with his family members.

Madhya Pradesh election live: In Naxal affected areas, polling began at 7 AM

Polling began at 7 AM for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and will go on till 6 PM in all the assembly segments.

In Naxal-affected Baihar, Lanjhi and Paraswada seats in Balaghat district, 55 booths in Mandla district’s Bichhiya and Mandla seats and 40 polling stations of Dindori district, voting time is being held from 7 am to 3 pm.
