At least five individuals were injured after a leopard attacked them upon entering a house in a village in North Delhi’s Wazirabad on Monday morning,as PTI reported.
The incident triggered panic among residents, officials said, adding that the leopard was later rescued.
According to officials, the leopard leaped from the terrace of a house in Jagatpur village early in the morning and entered the adjacent building, where it was confined to a room. Social media videos depicted the chaotic scene as some individuals pursued the leopard while others fled in fear.

The Delhi Fire Service received information about the incident at around 6.20 am and dispatched two fire tenders to the location. “With the help of the locals, the officials locked the leopard in a room. The injured were sent to a hospital,” Delhi Fire Service (DFS) chief Atul Garg stated.
One resident noted that the leopard was initially spotted at around 4.30 am, leading to a PCR call at 5.15 am. The animal attempted to attack numerous people, resulting in injuries, the resident added. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) M K Meena mentioned receiving a report about the leopard’s intrusion into a house in Jagatpur village following which local police responded to the call, and forest department officials were notified.

Police said that five people were injured in the leopard attack and three of them have been identified as Mahender, Akash and Rampal. Present at the scene were seven forest department personnel, a team from the Delhi Fire Department, and local police, according to the DCP.
A local resident highlighted that the village is encompassed by jungle without any fencing or security measures.
Notably, on December 1 last year, a leopard was sighted in South Delhi’s Sainik Farms area, with videos capturing the animal roaming the residential lanes. The leopard’s last sighting occurred on December 6, and authorities suspected its return to the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. A week later, a leopard was fatally struck by a car on National Highway 44 near Khatushyam Temple in North Delhi’s Alipur.
