On Kerala local body elections result, BJP leader Bhawna Bohra said that the BJP has achieved an excellent result in this election.

“… From having just one Member of Parliament previously, to winning a significant number of seats this time, it clearly demonstrates that the BJP is not merely an alternative for the people, but is becoming a permanent solution,” she said.

On Kerala local body elections, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that in Thiruvananthapuram, the BJP achieved a resounding victory.

“Kerala has an LDF government, and the state government and the state election commission conduct the municipal elections. Who stole the votes there?… BJP is not even a significant force there… The Congress party is becoming more of a platform for anarchy than a political party,” he said.

He added that the Congress party once claimed the legacy of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, Sardar Patel, and Subhas Chandra Bose and led the freedom struggle, “is today becoming a curse on Indian politics”.

On Argentine footballer Lionel Messi’s event in Delhi tomorrow, DCP Nishant Gupta said the traffic police have designated three parking areas, including P1 near Vikram Nagar. On the Kerala local body elections, Congress MP K. Suresh said, “In the Kerala local body elections, we had a massive victory. After three months, we are going to have an assembly election, and this is a projection of the assembly of who will come to power… “

He added that one thing has come out clear that the Congress-led UDF will come back to power.

A day after the UDF’s massive victory in the civic body polls, KPCC Chief Sunny Joseph said that Kerala Congress (M), once a major coalition partner in the UDF and now a part of the ruling LDF, must decide whether they should come back to the Congress-led front.

“It is up to them to discuss, decide, and determine. Let’s think,” Joseph said when reporters asked about accepting KC(M) into the UDF fold if it comes back.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has hailed BJP-led NDA’s victory in Kerala.

“The victory we have achieved in the municipal elections in Kerala, along with the leadership of the Prime Minister, our party has become the world’s largest political party, and we are opening our account in every state of the country. Our government is continuously establishing new benchmarks in good governance. I hope that in the coming times in Kerala, the BJP will be seen advancing even further,” he said.

Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty said that only 58.24 per cent polling was recorded this time, which is lower than the previous election.

“Our base in Thiruvananthapuram has not been shaken. A detailed review and evaluation will be carried out. The BJP influenced voters and released exit poll results, which is a serious breach of election rules. The Election Commission remained silent on this. This is only a temporary trend. There is no loss of CPM base in Thiruvananthapuram, and candidate selection was done correctly,” he claimed.

As the Kerala civic polls results were announced on Saturday, incidents of violence were reported overnight at various places across the state, especially in northern districts.

In Eramala in Kozhikode district, tension prevailed throughout the night after the Indira Gandhi Bhavan, a Congress office, was allegedly attacked by CPI(M) workers. According to an FIR registered at Edachery police station, around 200 people marched towards the Congress office carrying dangerous weapons and vandalised the building, causing damage estimated at around Rs 5 lakh.

CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam, after LDF’s defeat in civic polls, said the party has accepted the people’s verdict.

He said the party has begun a process of introspection to address the reasons behind the setback suffered by the Left Democratic Front.

In a Facebook post, Binoy Viswam described the defeat as unexpected and said the CPI has a responsibility to conduct an in-depth analysis of the factors that led to the outcome. He said the party would study the lessons from the election results, correct its shortcomings, and return with renewed strength.

Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty has said that while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) respected the people’s verdict, the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) victory celebrations were misleading.

“The LDF did not get the expected result in the local body elections. We respect the people’s verdict. However, the UDF’s victory celebrations are misleading. The LDF faced a much bigger defeat in 2010 and came back strongly from that,” Sivankutty said.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday thanked the people of Kerala for delivering a decisive mandate in favour of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the recently concluded local body elections.

In a statement, Kharge said the verdict reflected public confidence in the Congress-led alliance and its governance agenda. He added that the party was optimistic of carrying this momentum into the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in the next few months.

Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan on Saturday welcomed the UDF’s sweeping victory in Kerala’s local body elections. He stated that the results showed public acceptance of the alliance’s chargesheet against the LDF government.

Speaking to the media, Satheesan said the chargesheet, along with the UDF’s election manifesto, had been widely debated among voters and played a key role in shaping the outcome.

“The LDF has suffered a major setback in these local body polls. In the 2020 elections, the LDF had won over 500 grama panchayats, but this time the number has dropped to 345,” he said. “In contrast, the UDF has recorded a significant improvement, winning around 500 grama panchayats compared to about 340 in 2020,” Satheesan added.

Satheesan further pointed out that while the LDF managed to secure only 68 block panchayats, the UDF emerged ahead with victories in 77 block panchayats.

Muslim League state president Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal said the results were beyond expectations.

“The outcome points towards the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram, indicating that a change of government is imminent. We are going to win the Assembly election,” he said.

Senior Congress leader and MP Rajmohan Unnithan said the trends in the local body elections indicated that the UDF would return to power in the 2026 Assembly elections.

“We will win 111 seats as in 1977 and return to power in 2026. The anti-government sentiment of the people is reflected in the elections,” he said.

The results for all the municipalities are in for Kerala civic polls, with the UDF registering victory on 10 of 14.

KC Venugopal said the UDF had registered victories even in CPI(M) and LDF strongholds.

“I congratulate all UDF workers for their hard work. Congress workers and leaders worked unitedly,” he said.

Referring to remarks made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against the Congress on polling day, Venugopal said the voters had responded through the verdict.

“I do not know whether the chief minister understands that the people are against him. Otherwise, he does not know the sentiment of the people. The state government cannot move an inch further,” he said.

The Congress-led UDF has won the municipality of Ernakulum by winning 227 of 447 wards.

In a social media post on Thiruvananthapuram local body results, Congress MP from here, Shashi Tharoor said, “I also want to acknowledge the historic performance of the BJP in Thiruvananthapuram, and offer humble congratulations on their significant victory in the city Corporation — a strong showing that marks a notable shift in the capital’s political landscape.”

” I campaigned for a change from 45 years of LDF misrule, but the voters have ultimately rewarded another party that also sought a clear change in governance,” he added.

AICC leader K C Venugopal said the results showed that people had begun ousting those who, he alleged, were responsible for the loss of gold at Lord Ayyappa’s temple.

“This trend will continue in the Assembly elections as well. It is an indication that the people are ready to bring down the LDF government,” he said.

On local body poll results in the state, Congress MP Jebi Mather has hailed the civic poll results favouring UDF.

“It is clear sign that UDF will come to power in 2026 Assembly election in Kerala,” she said.

UDF wins Thrissur, Ernakulum (Kochi), Kannur corporations; nears victory in Kollam.

Meanwhile, the BJP is heading to a big victory in Thiruvananthapuram. In Kozhikode, the battle is neck-and-neck between LDF and UDF.
