Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president Hemant Soren was on Sunday sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand at Morhabadi Ground in Ranchi. Governor Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Soren, in the presence of senior political leaders and Chief Ministers from across states. This will be the 44-year-old JMM leader’s second stint as Jharkhand CM. Along with Soren, Congress Legislature Party Leader Alamgir Alam, state Congress president Rameshwar Oraon and RJD MLA Satyanand Bhokta were also sworn in as Cabinet ministers. The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance secured a comfortable majority in the just held Assembly elections. The alliance pocketed 47 seats in the 81-member Legislative Assembly. The BJP was restricted to just 25 seats. Four other MLAs – three from the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) and one from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) have also extended their support to the grand alliance government.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be among the host of opposition leaders slated to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Hemant Soren as Jharkhand Chief Minister in Ranchi.

Chidambaram, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.
The swearing-in ceremony of Hemant Soren will take place at the Morabadi ground here at 2 PM. Huge tents have been set up for the oath ceremony. Elaborate security arrangements have been made as well.
JMM leader Hemant Soren will take oath as 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Sunday along with three other ministers, one from JMM and another from Congress. The three others who will take oath are Rameshwar Oraon, the President of Congress' Jharkhand unit, Alamgeer Alam, leader of Congress legislative part and senior JMM leader Stepehen Marandi, a former Deputy CM.
PM Narendra Modi has expressed his inability to attend the ceremony due to his busy schedule. The Prime Minister extended good wishes and assured Hemant Soren that he will visit Jharkhand when he gets time.
Former chief minister and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) president Babulal Marandi, NCP MLA Kamlesh Singh and CPI (ML-Liberation) MLA Vinod Kumar Singh arelikely to attend the event. The JVM-P and the CPI-ML-Liberation have extended support to the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition, which stormed to power after five years, dethroning the BJP in the just concluded assembly elections to the 81-member Legislative Assembly.
The JMM-Congress-RJD combine had bagged 47 seats (JMM 30, Congress 16 and RJD 1) in the state's 81-member assembly.
