Rahul Gandhi has never been so aggressive, so forceful in putting forth his point like today. But on a day when sting operations exposed members of several political parties dealing in illicit cash trade after demonetisation, it seems, Rahul may have earned his mojo.
So far the Congress party has been at the receiving end of corruption abuse hurled at them by the BJP. The party, including Rahul and his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, is facing several litigations for alleged wrongdoings.
However, on Wednesday, Rahul claimed he has got “proof” of personal corruption by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Read my lips … I have information of personal corruption against the PM. That’s why we (Congress) are not being allowed to speak in Parliament.”
The Congress vice-president alleged that PM Modi is afraid of coming to Parliament. “PM should stop making excuses and come to Parliament. Let the people of the country decide if the opposition is speaking the truth or the PM,” Rahul tweeted.
“For the last month, we have been trying to hold a discussion in Parliament. We are ready to have an unconditional discussion, but the government is not ready,” he said in another tweet. Rahul reiterated similar claims while interacting with the media.
However, the government said the PM was present in Parliament and ready to debate demonetisation. But the opposition was not letting Parliament function. Union minister Ananth Kumar accused the opposition of “sabotage”.
A few days ago Rahul had said there would be an earthquake if he is allowed to speak in Parliament.
Rahul’s sudden aggression makes one believe that he has really got something substantial against the PM. And the country would love to see serious proof of corruption against PM Modi. But considering his past, Rahul may be simply bluffing for political mileage.
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal apparently called this bluff early by saying Rahul should expose the PM outside Parliament if he has really got something against the PM and not allowed to speak inside.
If Rahul Gandhi actually has papers on Modi ji’s personal involvement in corruption, then why doesn’t he expose it outside Parl? https://t.co/5xc2WkCd5B

It appears the deadlock in Parliament may not end in this winter session. In case a debate takes place, Rahul will get to speak first. But the government fears the opposition may not let the PM speak after Rahul’s speech and walk out.
