Infosys co-founder and former CEO, Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, has been named in a case filed under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act in Karnataka, as per PTI reports. The case was registered at the Sadashiva Nagar police station following directions from the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH). Along with Gopalakrishnan, former IISc Director Balaram and 16 other individuals have also been accused.

The complainant, Durgappa, a faculty member from the tribal Bovi community, alleged caste-based abuse, threats, and wrongful implication in a honey trap case in 2014, which led to his dismissal from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Durgappa previously worked at the Centre for Sustainable Technology at IISc.

The other individuals named include Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K V S, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan.

As of now, there has been no official statement from Kris Gopalakrishnan addressing the allegations.

Meanwhile, Mohandas Pai supported Infosys co-founder and said, “This is very wrong. Govt should ensure that innocent people in governing boards are not wrongly charged like this. The rights of all should be protected. “

Who is Kris Gopalakrishnan?

Kris Gopalakrishnan, a co-founder of Infosys, is a prominent figure in India’s tech industry. He holds master’s degrees in physics and computer science from IIT Madras and has served in key leadership roles at Infosys, including as CEO and managing director from 2007 to 2011 and vice-chairman from 2011 to 2014.

Gopalakrishnan has been recognized with numerous honours, including the Padma Bhushan in 2011, India’s third-highest civilian award. He has held leadership positions in various prestigious organizations, including being the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2013-14 and co-chair of the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2014.

He currently chairs several institutions, including the Vision Group on Information Technology of the Karnataka Government, RBI Innovation Hub, and the CII Centre of Excellence in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Start-ups.
