An Indigo flight 6E2211 heading to Varanasi from Delhi received a bomb threat in the early morning of Tuesday (May 28) which later proved to be a hoax after a thorough investigation. The fake threat caused dramatic scenes at the New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport as the 176 passengers onboard the IndiGo flight were evacuated via the emergency exits.

According to a senior police officer “Around 5 am, information was received about a note found in the lavatory of an Indigo flight scheduled to depart for Varanasi, stating ‘bomb @5.30 am,’”.

Following a thorough inspection, the officer confirmed, “No suspicious items were found. It was a hoax threat. Further investigation is underway.” Officials revealed that the note was discovered by the pilot of Indigo flight 6E2211 as it was preparing to leave from the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Amidst the chaos, several videos surfaced on social media that showed the struggles of passengers who were being evacuated in a hurry.

As per the PTI report, following security protocols, the aircraft was moved to a remote bay as reported by an IndiGo spokesperson. Passengers were safely evacuated via emergency exits, and an alternate aircraft was arranged. In the meantime, passengers were provided with refreshments.
