On the eve of Independence Day, the India Gate, North Block, Samvidhaan Sadan (Old Parliament House), Safdarjung Tomb, and Vikas Minar were bathed in the tricolor, highlighting the nation’s rich freedom movement history.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the national flag for the 11th consecutive time on Independence Day. This marks his first Independence Day address in his third term, surpassing Manmohan Singh, who hoisted the tricolour 10 times from the Red Fort between 2004 and 2014. Modi’s milestone places him just behind Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, who delivered the Independence Day address 17 and 16 times, respectively.
According to ANI, vehicles are undergoing thorough checks in Delhi as security measures are intensified in the national capital ahead of Independence Day.
Around 6,000 special guests from various sectors of Indian society, including youth, tribal communities, farmers, women, and beneficiaries of government schemes, have been invited to witness this year’s Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort.
