Had India conducted formal surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir at any other time, Pakistani leadership would have raised a hue and cry over the issue in front of the international community. But such has been the circumstances that Pakistani leadership has been forced to get a taste of their own medicine. And they have themselves to blame for the situation.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is apparently the biggest culprit who has led his country to a situation that it will be haunted forever by global humiliation as a terror state, even if not declared formally by the international community.
At a time when the entire world is vigilant against terrorism and their promoters, Pakistani leadership, especially Nawaz Sharif, made a martyr out of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Muzaffar Wani, who was killed by Indian security personnel in Kashmir in June.
Even as India struggled to check the unrest in Kashmir after Wani’s death, Sharif condemned his killing, made him a martyr. Not only this, he hailed Wani, who openly flaunted his terror credentials, as a “young leader” during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan’s cheap-tricks have, however, earned the country a global mistrust. This is reflected as no country, including its old “friends” the US or China have come forward to come to Pakistan’s aid.

A US congressman has even introduced a petition in the US Congress to declare Pakistan a sponsor of terrorism.
Introducing the Pakistan State Sponsor of Terrorism Designation Act in the US Congress, Congress Man Ted Poe said, “Not only is Pakistan an untrustworthy ally, Islamabad has also aided and abetted enemies of the United States for years. From harboring Osama bin Laden to its cozy relationship with the Haqqani network, there is more than enough evidence to determine whose side Pakistan is on in the War on Terror. And it’s not America’s.”
On Thursday, after India informed the world about surgical strikes, Poe tweeted against Nawaz Sharif: “Disappointed to see the Pakistan PM use the @UN to praise a militant group that uses violence to promote its cause.”

Times of India reported that two other influential US senators wrote a separate letter to PM Modi, condemning Pakistan. The daily quoted Senators Mark Warner and John Cornyn as saying in the letter to PM Modi that they were “greatly concerned about initial indication that the perpetrators of this (Uri) attack were Pakistani and that the attack emanated from Pakistan”. They further said, “Pakistan’s possible involvement in this attack underscores our broader concerns about its use of terrorism as a pillar of its foreign policy towards Afghanistan and India.”
The senators warned that Pakistan’s use of terrorism is “unacceptable” as terrorist organizations like LeT, TTP, and JeM have not only attacked India but also US personnel and interests in Afghanistan.
By praising Wani at the UNGA, Sharif not only made it easy for India to conduct surgical strikes but also brought shame to Pakistani people, as they may now be seen with more suspicion across the world and get targeted.
