Over 60% voter turnout was recorded in Haryana’s assembly elections which ended at 6 PM. Poll officials said that the election was conducted smoothly although clashes were reported from Nuh which left three injured. Key candidates include Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Vinesh Phogat, and INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala. Counting of votes will take place on October 8. Over 1,000 candidates, including 101 women and 464 independents, are contesting. Haryana election exit polls have predicted an “easy” win for the Congress party.
