Early trends from the Bihar Assembly elections show the NDA taking strong leads across the state, while the Mahagathbandhan trails far behind. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, which had promised major political change, has barely appeared in the results. The ruling NDA seems to be dominating the race, leaving the opposition struggling. Kishor had earlier said he would leave politics if JDU crossed 25 seats. At the moment, JDU is ahead in 75 constituencies.

Singer and BJP candidate Maithili Thakur, who is leading from Alinagar, says, “This is like a dream. People have a lot of expectations of me… This will be my first term as an MLA, and I will do my best for my constituency… I will serve my people as their daughter… I can only see Alinagar right now and how I can work them…”

Uttar Pradesh minister Anil Rajbhar said the strong lead of the NDA in Bihar shows how much support voters have given to the BJP, JDU, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party, and the entire alliance. He added that this clear backing from the people reflects their trust in the good governance model promoted by Nitish Kumar.

The Congress, a major partner in the Mahagathbandhan, is once again struggling in the Bihar Assembly elections. Early numbers show the party leading in only six of the 60 seats it contested, giving it a very low success rate of about 10%. Once a powerful force in Bihar, Congress has now slipped to the margins, often finishing in third or fourth place. Its last strong influence in state leadership was in 1990, when Jagannath Mishra served as Chief Minister. Since then, the party has not been able to rebuild its base.

Even though the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha tried to revive Congress in the state through several major campaigns, including allegations of vote theft, the Special Intensive Revision drive, and the Voter Adhikar Yatra, none of these efforts seem to have connected deeply with voters. Local issues remained far more important to the people, leaving Congress with little ground to stand on.

According to the trends available on the Election Commission of India’s official website as of 12:15 pm, BJP’s Chhoti Kumari is leading with a margin of 2380 votes against RJD’s Shatrughan Yadav.

As the NDA moves past the majority mark in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh leader Swatantra Dev Singh says the alliance is heading toward a clear victory under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. He adds that people have supported the NDA because they want stable and clean governance. According to him, voters rejected the opposition as they feared a return of corruption and disorder, choosing the NDA for a safer and more dependable future.

As the NDA crosses the majority mark in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh minister Jayveer Singh thanks the people of the state for placing their trust in Prime Minister Modi and the alliance. He says the NDA will work hard to meet its promises and the hopes voters have shown in them, while adding that the opposition will continue to look for reasons to explain its defeat. Speaking about the UP Cabinet meeting, he notes that the government will review 15 key public issues and take decisions aimed at improving people’s lives.

BJP’s Surendra Mehta is leading from Bachhwara with 32198 votes whereas INC’s Shiv Prakash Garib Das is trailing with 25042 votes.

As the NDA moves past the majority mark in the Bihar Assembly Elections, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal says the alliance is ahead on around 192 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan is trailing far behind with fewer than 50 seats. He adds that these early trends suggest voters across Bihar have rejected the Mahagathbandhan and that the BJP-NDA’s support base remains strong in every region of the state.

As the Congress maintains its lead in the Anta Assembly by-election, senior leader Ashok Gehlot said the early numbers are encouraging. He added that the positive mood was visible from the start and expressed hope that the party would win the seat with a strong margin.

As the NDA crossed the majority mark, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said Bihar is set to begin a new chapter. He said voters have shown strong faith in PM Modi and Nitish Kumar, believing their leadership has helped both the state and the country move forward. He added that parties claiming they would form the government now appear to be slipping to third place with a very low success rate. He also said Bihar voters rejected the opposition’s negative politics and predicted they would again blame EVMs once the results are out.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the NDA is set to form the government in Bihar with a big majority. He said the results show people’s support for Prime Minister Modi’s welfare work and Nitish Kumar’s governance. He also thanked the voters of Bihar for their trust.

According to the ECI’s official website, INC is leading in Begusarai. INC candidate Amita Bhushan is leading with 24342 votes while BJP’s Kundan Kumar is trailing with 22721 votes.

Tejashwi Yadav is still trailing from Raghopur with a margin of 3016 votes. BJP’s Satish Kumar is ahead with 17599 votes while Tejahwi is at 14583 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.

Giving an update from the Lakhisarai counting centre, District Magistrate Mithilesh Mishra said the administration is strictly following all Election Commission guidelines. He noted that three layers of security have been set up, vehicle movement around polling centres has been stopped, and both postal ballots and EVM votes are being counted. Candidate agents are in place, and adequate police personnel have been deployed. Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar also said the situation is calm and fully under control. He added that counting is progressing peacefully, with extra forces posted at sensitive spots.

LJP-Ram Vilas MP Shambhavi Chaudhary said the NDA’s lead reflects what they had believed from the start — that people in Bihar prefer development and stability. She said voters have long rejected the Mahagathbandhan’s approach to politics and noted that its mindset has not changed over the years. With strong public support behind the NDA, she added, it was clear that the alliance was headed for a majority government.

As the NDA held a clear lead and crossed the majority mark, BJP MP Deepak Prakash said the results show that their leadership remains strong and will now work with even more energy. He called it a victory for the people of Bihar, adding that the state is set for another “double-engine” government. He thanked voters for their trust in PM Modi and Nitish Kumar and said the BJP–NDA workers’ hard effort will speed up development further. Responding to RJD leader Sunil Kumar Singh’s remarks, he said the comments were unacceptable and that strict action, including jail, should follow.

Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, said the early trends must be accepted, though he feels the situation is disappointing for Bihar. He added that while he respects the public’s choice, he still sees the outcome so far as unfortunate for the state.

Chirag Paswan’s LJP is contesting from 29 seats in Bihar Assembly Elections 25, and as per the ECI’s latest count, it is currently leading in 22 seats. Things are definitely looking up for the Lok Janshakti Party.

Commenting on the Bihar Elections 2025, Union Minister Giriraj Singh told ANI “Bihar ki jeet hamari hai, Bengal wali Didi agli baari Bengal ki hai kyuki waha bhi Rohingya-Bangladeshi ghuspaithiyo ko nikaalna hai.”
