Bihar assembly election 2025: In a high drama at the house of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav, party leader Madan Shah tore his clothes and broke down saying he was betrayed by the top brass. He said Lalu Yadav had promised him a ticket from Madhuban constituency, but the same has now been “sold” to a “BJP agent”.

In tears outside the house, the RJD leader was also seen chasing Lalu Yadav’s car while he entered his house. Police and security officials tried stopping him as he remained at the gate, crying inconsolably.

“Lalu Prasad Yadav promised to give me a ticket for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025… RJD leader Sanjay Yadav had demanded ₹2.7 crore, and when I refused to pay, the party ticket was given to someone else,” he said.

‘Tejashwi sold ticket’

In a big allegation, the RJD leader said that Sanjay Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav have sold Bihar election ticket for Rs 2.7 crore. Calling Tejashwi Yadav “arrogant”, he said the INDIA bloc will not be able to form the government.

“…They will not form the government; Tejashwi is very arrogant, doesn’t meet people…They are giving away tickets…Sanjay Yadav is doing all this…I have come here to die. Lalu Yadav is my Guru…He had said that he would give me a ticket…They gave a ticket to Santosh Kushwaha, a BJP agent…” Madan Shah said as he tore his clothes, broke down and fell to the ground.

RJD leader Madan Prasad says, “…We have been treated unfairly. Tejashwi Yadav did not give us a ticket and instead sold it for ₹2.70 crore…”

Madan Shah’s ‘2020 story’

Speaking of the promise made by Lalu Yadav, he said, “In 2020, Lalu ji called me to Ranchi and got a survey done regarding the population of Teli community, and that Madan Shah will defeat Randhir Singh from Madhuban constituency. Tejashwi ji and Lalu ji had called me, they had said that they will give me a ticket. I have been working for the party since the ’90s.”

“I am a poor man, I sold my land…They will not form the government; Tejashwi is very arrogant, doesn’t meet people…They are giving away tickets…Sanjay Yadav is doing all this…I have come here to die. Lalu Yadav is my Guru…He had said that he would give me a ticket…They gave a ticket to Santosh Kushwaha, a BJP agent…” he added.

He asserted the party has not treated with them well and “Tejashwi Yadav did not give us a ticket and instead sold it for ₹2.70 crore…”

This comes as tussle within the opposition’s Mahagathbandhan continues over the seat-sharing, that the bloc still has to finalise. The deadline of nomination for the first phase has ended, and the same for the second phase is nearing. However, reports say RJD and Congress are not able to come on the same page on seats, and since the alliance is bigger this time, the maths is getting difficult.

Bihar will vote on Nov 6 and 11, and the results will be announced on Nov 14.
