In a boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign, a number of Bollywood actors including Kagana Ranaut and Amitabh Bachhan have come together to spread the message of cleanliness in a peculiar way. The actors appear in a video that highlights how many people in the country believe that Goddess of wealth, Laxmi, resides in a clean surrounding, yet they continue to litter around. The 2.45 minute video — ‘Don’t Let Her Go’ — features Kangana as Laxmi holding a pot with gold coins, who moves away whenever some one carelessly throws garbage.
“It is said that Goddess of wealth Laxmi stays in cleanliness. Still we throw garbage all around. Next time think before throwing garbage, Laxmi may abandon you,” Amitabh says in the video. Other actors featuring in the video include Isha Kopikkar, Omkar Kapoor and Ravi Kishan. Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the video appeals to people to contribute their bit as the government is doing its own through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. “We were taught in childhood that cleanliness is next to Godliness. But perhaps we forgot this as we grew up. I appeal to all of you to please keep you house, surrounding clean. Swachh bharat is not just PM Narendra Modi’s dream, it should be a dream of everybody,” Amitabh says in the video. You can watch it here.
“It is now time that we all come together to make India a dream country, a clean country. So please support this initiative and prosperity comes from cleanliness,” adds Amitabh. Kangana too appeals to people to support the video and contribute in keeping the country litter free. “I pledge to keep my country clean. Please do not litter. The government is doing its bit through Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, now it is our turn to contribute,” the ‘Queen’ star says.
