A 22-year-old man was killed while his brother sustained injuries after they were allegedly stabbed by three men on motorbikes in the Harsh Vihar area of northeast Delhi, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday when the brothers advised the bikers to drive safely. Police have apprehended one suspect, identified as Vikas, 22, and recovered the motorcycle used in the crime. The deceased has been identified as Ankur, a resident of Pratap Nagar, who was returning home from a Dussehra fair with his brother, Himanshu.

According to the initial investigation, Ankur and Himanshu advised a biker carrying two pillion passengers to drive safely while on Saboli Road, a senior police officer said. In response, the three men dismounted and began assaulting the brothers. One of the suspects then drew a knife and stabbed both Ankur and Himanshu.

Himanshu, who sustained knife wounds to his neck and thigh, managed to transport Ankur to a nearby hospital in an e-rickshaw, where doctors pronounced him dead.

“The deceased sustained multiple stab wounds on his chest, stomach, and thigh. We arrested one of the accused and the remaining two are still absconding,”the officer said, adding that Ankur’s body has been handed over to his family after a postmortem examination.

CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing the three men attacking the brothers in broad daylight. The footage also captures a bystander attempting to detain one of the attackers as they fled the scene. “We demand strict action against the accused,” Ankur’s father Krishan Pal said.
