The Andhra Pradesh government has taken measures to combat the impact of the storm with Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy ordering all schools to be closed and putting eight districts—Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Kakinada—on high alert. The CM also convened a meeting with district collectors to assess the situation and allocate funds to protect crops.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi said he is in constant touch with the governments of states and assured continuous coordination with the states on the eastern coast for relief and rescue operations. He encouraged BJP workers in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh to support local administrations in these efforts.

At least eight people have been killed due to heavy rains lashing Tamil Nadu’s Chennai under the influence of Cyclone Michaung, which is expected to make landfall between Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday afternoon. Some bodies have been identified, while others remain unknown, according to Chennai Police. An unidentified body was found at the platform near the Vaidyanathan flyover (H-5 New Washermenpet PS limits) and was sent to Government Stanley Hospital.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office statement, the severe cyclonic storm is forecasted to hit near Bapatla by Tuesday noon, accompanied by winds up to 100 kilometers per hour. Gales reaching speeds of 110 kilometers per hour are expected during Tuesday forenoon. The weather system is anticipated to persist until Thursday, following which it will likely weaken into a deep depression and gradually dissipate, according to the statement. (PTI)
