The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Monday that the depression, a remnant of Cyclone Fengal, continues to impact north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Moving west-northwestward at 7 km/h over the past six hours, the depression was centered at 11:30 PM IST on Sunday near latitude 12.2°N and longitude 79.2°E. It was positioned approximately 40 km northwest of Villupuram, 70 km west-northwest of Puducherry, 80 km northwest of Cuddalore, and 140 km southwest of Chennai.

The IMD forecasts that the system will continue its west-northwestward trajectory and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area over north interior Tamil Nadu within six hours. By December 3, it is likely to re-emerge over the southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea, affecting the north Kerala-Karnataka coastlines. Monitoring is ongoing via the Doppler Weather Radar at Karaikal.
