The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold an emergency session on Wednesday following an explosion at a Gaza hospital that has set the Middle East on edge.

Wipro Q2 Results: Profit remains almost flat at Rs 2,646.30 crore

Bengaluru-based IT giant Wipro on Wednesday posted its second quarter profit at Rs 2,646.30 crore, down 0.5 per cent as against Rs 2,659.00 crore during the same period last year. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 22,515.90 crore during the quarter ended September 2023, down 0.1 per cent in comparison to Rs 22,539.70 crore during the quarter ended September 2022, missing estimates. According to CNBC TV18 poll, Wipro was expected to post its Q2 revenue at Rs 22,760 crore and EBIT at Rs 3,642 crore. (Read More)

All accused convicted in 2008 Delhi journalist Soumya Vishwanathan’s murder case

Fifteen years after the murder of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan, Delhi’s Saket Court pronounced the accused guilty in the case on Wednesday. The court convicted four accused in the murder case. The fifth accused has been convicted for other offences in the case. All five accused have also been convicted under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), ANI reported. (Read More)

Govt extends curbs on sugar exports beyond Oct 31

The government on Wednesday again extended restrictions on sugar exports beyond October 31 next year, a move aimed at increasing the availability of the commodity in the domestic market during the festive season. Earlier, the restrictions were imposed until October 31 of this year. (PTI)

Adani Group ‘fleecing’ people: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday cited a media report to accuse the Adani Group of over-invoicing in coal imports and fleecing people to the tune of Rs 12,000 crore in electricity rates. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters, Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to come clean on the Adani issue by initiating a probe into the matter and defend his credibility. DDA launches mega e-auction for prime plots, mobile tower sites

The Delhi Development Authority has launched a mega e-auction for prime plots, built-up shops, kiosks and mobile tower sites among other properties, officials said on Wednesday. Online bidding of these properties has been scheduled for three days from November 7 to 9, and the exercise has been grouped for public convenience, they said. (PTI)

US says thwarts drone attack on its troops in Iraq

The US military thwarted an attack targeting its forces in Iraq early on Wednesday, intercepting two drones before they could strike, two US officials told Reuters. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to say who was suspected of the attack but it came as Washington is on heightened alert for activity by Iran-backed groups amid soaring tension in the region over the Israel-Hamas war. US President condemns hospital attack in Gaza

Joe Biden, United States President issued an official statement expressing his concern over Gaza hospital attack and says, “I am outraged and deeply saddened by the explosion at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, and the terrible loss of life that resulted. Immediately upon hearing this news, I spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel and have directed my national security team to continue gathering information about what exactly happened. The United States stands unequivocally for the protection of civilian life during conflict and we mourn the patients, medical staff and other innocents killed or wounded in this tragedy.”

Russia seeks to add condemnation of hospital strike to UN Israel-Gaza draft resolution

Russia suggests amending the resolution on the Brazilian-drafted resolution that United Nations Security Council will vote on today to condemn the attack on a hospital in the northern Gaza Strip that resulted in hundreds of deaths. According to Dmitry Polyanskiy, Russia’s deputy envoy to the UN, “Today we supplemented the amendment, which concerns the condemnation of the strikes on Gaza with the condemnation of the strike on the Al-Ahli al-Arabi Hospital in Gaza.”
