Delhi L-G clears enrolment of over 10,000 home guard personnel

Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena on Monday cleared the enrolment of more than 10,000 new home guard personnel and directed officials to provide 10 bonus points to ex-civil defence volunteers, the Raj Niwas said in a statement.

13 drown in Bihar during Chhath festivities

A total of 13 people drowned during Chhath festivities in different water bodies in seven districts of Bihar since Sunday, officials said. The deaths were reported in Patna, Khagaria, Samastipur, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Munger and Besusarai, a statement issued by the Bihar Disaster Management Department (DMD) said on Monday.

19-year-old woman kidnapped in broad daylight in MP’s Gwalior

A 19-year-old woman was kidnapped in broad daylight in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district on Monday. The incident occurred near a petrol pump under the jurisdiction of Jhansi Road police station in the district at around 9:30 am on Monday. The whole matter was captured in the CCTV camera installed at the petrol pump.

US to offer more free COVID tests nationwide

The US government on Monday will start taking orders for another round of free COVID-19 tests for delivery across the country, a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesperson said. Households that had ordered four free tests through COVIDTests.gov when they were offered again in September are eligible to order four more, while those that did not can submit two orders for a total of eight free tests. Uttarkashi tunnel collapse: “We have achieved our first breakthrough, for which we had been trying for the last nine days and was our first priority. A 6-inch pipe has been installed and they (trapped workers) can hear us through it. Jio Financial Services in talks for maiden bond issue

India’s Jio Financial Services is in early talks with merchant bankers for its maiden bond issue, four bankers told Reuters on Monday. The company may look to raise 50 billion rupees ($600.6 million) to 100 billion rupees through the issue and may tap the market in the last quarter of this financial year, the bankers added. Jio Financial, which was carved out of Reliance Industries , is in the process of getting its credit rating and other necessary approvals, they said. (Reuters)

Tripura govt makes uniforms must for doctors at state-run hospitals

The Tripura government has made wearing uniforms for doctors, lab technicians and other staffers at state-run hospitals mandatory, an official said on Monday. A section of medical officers, faculty members and lab technicians are not wearing the uniform during duty hours, Director of Health Services Supriya Mallik told PTI.

Dunzo switches to Zoho workspace from Google suite to cut costs

Troubled quick commerce startup Dunzo has migrated all its employee accounts to Zoho workspace from Google, to bring down costs by at least a third. Google workspace is priced at about Rs 1,600 per user each month under the enterprise plan, while Zoho charges a portion of that at Rs 489 for similar offerings. A Dunzo spokesperson commented on the matter, saying, “This migration is just a regular business decision. There were some initial teething issues for the first couple of days, but all of these have been ironed out now.” (PTI)

Nearly 40 boats gutted in fire at Visakhapatnam fishing harbour

According to police, a large fire broke out at the Visakhapatnam fishing harbour during the night of Sunday and Monday. About 40 fiber-mechanized boats were destroyed, but no casualties or injuries were reported.

Delhi: Devotees stand in knee-deep toxic foam in Yamuna for Chhath Puja

During Chhath Puja celebrations at Kalindi Kunj in the national capital on Monday morning, devotees gave ‘Araghya’ to the rising sun while poisonous foam hovered on the surface of the filthy Yamuna river.
