Ram temple coverage: DD to install about 40 cameras, do 4K live broadcast
Nearly 40 cameras will be installed by Doordarshan at various locations in Ayodhya, including the new Ram temple complex, for live coverage of the consecration ceremony which will be broadcast in cutting-edge 4K technology, a top official has said. Besides the main temple premises, the national broadcaster will beam live visuals on different channels from Ram ki Paidi near Saryu ghat, Jatayu statue at Kuber Tila, among other locations.
10 killed in coal mine accident in China
Ten people were killed and six others missing after an accident in a coal mine in central China’s Henan Province, local authorities said early Saturday. The accident, a likely coal and gas explosion described as an “outburst”, happened around 2:55 pm on Friday in Pingdingshan, state broadcaster CCTV said. According to the local government, ten people were killed, state-run China Daily reported. (PTI)
Several tribal families ‘ostracised’ over festival celebration in Jharkhand village
Several tribal families in Dumaria block of Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district were allegedly ostracised by the village head for not celebrating a festival in the manner that he wanted, officials said. Almost a dozen families of Chota Asthi had approached Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Friday, apprising him of the matter, they said. The tribals claimed they had celebrated the ‘Sohrai’ festival in October last year, following which Gram Pradhan Rupai Hansda issued a diktat, allegedly barring them from availing benefits under various government schemes. Casual labourers in BRO projects to be covered under term insurance
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal to roll out a term insurance scheme for casual paid labourers engaged by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for various infrastructure projects. Under the scheme, a sum of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the next of kin in case of death of a labourer during project works, according to the defence ministry. (PTI)
Guwahati-bound IndiGo flight from Mumbai diverted to Dhaka
Due to adverse weather conditions in Guwahati, a Mumbai to Guwahati-bound IndiGo flight was redirected to Dhaka on Friday night. The airline is organizing a substitute crew for the continuation of the journey from Dhaka to Guwahati. IndiGo confirmed the diversion in a statement, citing operational reasons for the crew change. ED summons Kejriwal for fourth time in excise policy case
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received his fourth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday, regarding the alleged Delhi excise policy case. Despite refusing the third summons on January 3, Kejriwal is now required to appear before the central probe agency on January 18.
