Bihar Election Date 2025 Highlights: Bihar gets battle ready – voting on Nov 6 and 11; Results on Nov 14

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar says, “Previously, when votes were counted, if there was a mismatch in Form 17C, which the presiding officer gives to polling agents, and in the EVM counting unit, all such VVPATs would be counted in full.”

“Similarly, it will be compulsory that postal ballots be counted before the final two rounds of EVM counting. After the election is over, many people want to know how many voters there were, how many men voted, and how many women voted… now, gradually, the progressive implementation of ECI-NET is taking place. Therefore, you will all be able to see these digital index cards within a few days of the election’s conclusion,” he said.

Addressing a press meet in Patna, Bihar, CEC Gyanesh Kumar said, “There is still time. If any individual or political party has any issue, they can file their claim or objection up to 10 days before the date of nomination regarding the deletion or addition of names in the voters’ list.”

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar says, “As development progressed, booth-level staff highlighted an issue, often, while standing in line, voters needed mobile phones and nowadays, no one wants to leave their phones behind. To address this, a system was introduced in previous by-elections where mobiles are deposited just outside the polling room; after voting, voters collect their phones immediately… The Election Commission has also leveraged technology over the years, gradually developing nearly 40 separate applications for voters and stakeholders. To simplify this, all these applications have been integrated into a single computer platform called One Stop Digital Platform, ECINET. Its progressive implementation is ongoing and will be applied in Bihar, with any remaining tasks being completed thereafter”

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar says, “…When the ballot paper is inserted into the EVM, the photo on it is black and white, making it difficult to identify, even though the election symbol remains. It was also suggested that the serial number should be larger. So, starting with the Bihar elections, the serial number font will be larger across the country, and the candidates’ photographs will be colour photographs.”

The ECI said that starting from Bihar, candidates coloured photos will be made available on the EVMs.

The ECI said that elections in the country are held as the Constitution of India. He said the process is divided into several steps and are held in due monitoring of multiple agencies.

CEC Gyanesh Kumar announced that starting from Bihar, now each polling station will only have 1200 voters who will cast vote. The step is being taken to ensure over crowding does not take place.

On the SIR exercise, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar said, “Recently, the voter list cleansing work was carried out in Bihar, and the booth-level officers present before us not only carried out the work of cleansing the voter list in their booths, but 90,217 booth-level officers of Bihar performed a work that is exemplary across the country…Just as Vaishali in Bihar showed the world the path to democracy. Together, you will become a source of inspiration for the country in the work of cleansing the voter list.”

CEC Gyanesh Kumar praised people of Bihar for successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

He said the elections will be concluded before Nov 22.

Referring to his post on ‘X’ over CM Nitish Kumar, Bihar LoP and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav says, “The Chief Minister has been continuously behaving in ways that are inappropriate – whether it’s disrespecting the national anthem or making remarks against women. He is no longer fit to run Bihar. A syndicate is being run under Nitish Kumar’s name, looting the state and filling their own coffers. These people will be held accountable in due time, but the Chief Minister’s health is not well.”

The Election commission’s press briefing on Bihar elections preparations begins in Patna. The poll panel may announce the dates for the upcoming assembly elections.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Manoj Pandey said that it is clear that (in the Bihar elections) their demand is for 12 seats and that list has reached the leaders of the INDIA alliance.

“Discussions will take place on those 12 seats. Tomorrow, our two leaders will go to Bihar, and they will talk to Tejashwi Yadav. Then, an official announcement will be made…” he said.

Reacting to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s statement, BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal says, “RJD leader Tejashwi was accustomed to ballot box theft during Shahabuddin’s era, but times have changed. Today, voting happens through EVMs, and every citizen casts their vote genuinely…”

Union MoS Nityanand Rai says, “…Over 600 people were killed in targeted attacks. Wasn’t that Jungle Raj? During the RJD’s rule, more than fifty policemen were also killed during elections. In other words, total murders exceeded a 700. I am referring to the killings that took place during those fifteen years…”

Bihar Dy CM Samrat Choudhary said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee brought EVMs, and since EVMs came, the country’s elections have been fair.

“… Today, the Election Commission is fulfilling this responsibility. Now there is good governance in Bihar…” he said.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will address a press conference on Bihar poll preparedness.

The ECI team met political parties in Bihar on Saturday and reviewed the preparedness of enforcement agencies for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.

The Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, held a meeting in Patna today with the heads and nodal officers of various enforcement agencies to assess coordination and readiness for ensuring free, fair, and inducement-free elections in the State.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP leader Nityanand Rai addressed a press conference in Patna. He said, “Corruption, murder, extortion, and rape were the identity of RJD between 1990 to 2005. The people of Bihar are still scared of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s ‘Jungleraj’.”

On Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj trying to make Bihar election fight tripolar, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha said, “It’s always a direct contest, as you have seen in Bihar. One side stands for good governance, the other for misgovernance. In the political alliance – whether RJD, Congress, or the communists on one side, and BJP, JDU, and our five parties on the other, the elections are essentially between these two sides, and the people will decide which side they support.”

RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari says, “Prime Minister Modi should know that in the 20 years of NDA’s double-engine government, not a single new university has been opened. All the universities in Bihar were established during the RJD’s tenure… Why is migration happening from Bihar?… These (NDA) people can’t even tell their achievements…”

On PM Modi’s jibe at Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad says, “Tejaswi Yadav will have to say whether he considers Rahul Gandhi as ‘Jan Nayak’ or Karpoori Thaklur?… This is an emotional issue… To bestow such a title on a person born in a dynastic political system is the height of sycophancy…”

“The Congress, which ruled the country for 65-70 years, and the RJD, which ruled for so long, are responsible for Bihar’s plight. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made efforts to develop Bihar. The leaders of the INDIA bloc should reflect on the dire condition and situation of Bihar, and how Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Modi have worked together to develop Bihar. The public understands this… The public has faith in Modi’s guarantee and Nitish Kumar’s development…”

He further says, “The NDA will fight this election with rock-solid unity….”

BJP will continue its poll review meet today, and a ‘final’ decision on the candidates who were defeated in 2020 election will be taken today.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday criticised the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar. This comes after Rs 10,000 were transferred into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar ahead of the polls .

He said, “I say that the government should deposit money into the accounts of all women across the country. But let me make one thing clear, these women are not salaried voters bound to you. They are independent voters, and they have the right to cast their vote for whomever they wish.”

“Our party’s representatives had gone and put forward their views. We hope that this time the Bihar elections will be fair. Elections should not be held to help anyone. In a democracy, the public is the master,” Tejashwi Yadav said, before adding, “The public has every right that the elections should be held in a good environment.”
