Bihar Election 2025 LIVE Updates: Hemant Soren’s JMM to contest independently from six seats in Bihar

Congress late Saturday released the second list of five candidates contesting Bihar polls.

Congress MP Tariq Anwar on Saturday criticised the ongoing confusion over seat-sharing in the Mahagathbandhan ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, saying that the talks of “friendly fights” between alliance partners on several seats create a wrong impression among the public.

He said the confusion should have been cleared by now, especially since the nomination process for the first phase has already concluded.

Even as nominations for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly election ended on Friday, there has been no official announcement on seat-sharing among the Mahagathbandhan partners.

The Congress is the only party so far to have released its first list of 48 candidates, which it announced on Thursday night.

While other alliance partners, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), have yet to declare their lists, several leaders — including RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav — have already filed nominations.

Jharkhand’s ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced on Saturday that it will contest the Bihar Assembly elections independently, fielding candidates in six constituencies.

JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said, “The party has decided to contest the Bihar polls on its own. We will field candidates in six assembly seats — Chakai, Dhamdaha, Katoria (ST), Manihari (ST), Jamui, and Pirpainti.”

All six seats are part of the second phase of polling on November 11.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday announced its third list of 28 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, further intensifying its preparations for the high-stakes contest.

The third list includes Shashi Bhushan Tiwari from Lauriya, Arjun Kumar Sinha from Bettiah, Gaysaudin Samaini from Sugauli, and Ranjan Kumar from Samastipur, among others.

Earlier on Tuesday, AAP had released its second list comprising 48 candidates. As per that list, Prem Prapt Singh has been fielded from Chapra, Rajendra Prasad Singh from Lalganj, Aditya Lal from Purnia, and Inderjeet Jyotikar from Hathua.

The party’s first list had included 11 candidates.

JD(U)’s Rajiv Prasad said that the opposition leaders are wielding swords against each other, suggesting that Congress should fight the election alone.

“The opposition has already been defeated even before the elections began. Their own leaders are wielding swords against each other. Congress has also resolved to teach the RJD a lesson this time. The RJD has even fielded a candidate against the state Congress president.”

“Today, in Patna, I met with the country’s Home Minister, Amit Shah, and had detailed discussions regarding preparations for the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and the strategy for the NDA alliance,” Paswan wrote on X.

With just a few days left to the Bihar Election 2025, political leaders are taking a swipe at each other. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that he is confident of INDIA bloc’s victory, adding that “Nitish Kumar is a remote-controlled Chief Minister”.

“People of Bihar have realised all the jumlas and false promises. Bihar will bid farewell to Nitish Kumar and the BJP. You will see that the Mahagathbandhan is going to win a clear majority. People at the grassroots are fed up. Prime Minister and Home Minister are propagating anything, but they can’t erase the ground reality,” he said.

The Congress leader added, “The people of Bihar know that voting for Nitish Kumar is better than voting for the BJP. Nitish Kumar is a remote-controlled Chief Minister.”

LJP(Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Choudhary took a swipe at Mahagathbandhan on the “quagmire” over the seat sharing for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election.

She said that NDA has won “half the battle” given INDIA bloc’s “lack of clarity and unity”, adding that “Mahagathbandhan seems to be stuck in a quagmire”.

“…A party that can’t sort out issues within its own alliance, how it will raise Bihar’s issues,” she further added.

CPI (ML) Liberation has retained all the sitting MLAs.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has been rooting for Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar’s former deputy CM, for the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate.

She also stressed that mistakes in seat allocation and candidate selection, which were seen in Maharashtra, must not be repeated in Bihar.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended greetings to people on the occasion of Dhanteras.

In a post on X, CM Nitish Kumar said, “Congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state and the country on Dhanteras. May the grace of Mahalakshmi remain upon everyone. May happiness, peace, and prosperity come to the state. May Bihar reach the pinnacle of progress.”

Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav, an RJD candidate, has declared that he owns moveable and immoveable assets worth Rs 24.81 crore, according to the affidavit filed by him.

Of these, moveable assets are worth Rs 16.89 crore and immoveable properties owned by him are worth Rs 7.91 crore.

His wife owns moveable assets worth Rs 90.02 lakh and immoveable properties of Rs 6.49 crore.

“Unki (Nitish Kumar) sakriyata aur vision unko wahi daitva dega, which he deserves (“His [Nitish Kumar’s] activeness and responsibility will give him the position he truly deserves),” said Dy Rajya Sabha Chair ahead of Bihar election.

Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) said that the NDA in Bihar is united and well-coordinated, whereas the opposition Mahagathbandhan is a confused alliance. He further added that with the NDA’s win in Bihar, they will celebrate Diwali on November 14.

Baba Ramdev has made a bold claim ahead of Bihar election, saying that no leader is able to compete with PM Modi.

“Everyone in Bihar, including the Mahagathbandhan, is showing great strength… Everyone is confident that they will win, whether it is the Mahagathbandhan, Prashant Kishor, or even Owaisi,” he said, before adding, “Today, no opposition leader is able to compete with PM Modi.”

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Harivansh has slammed the “vote chori” allegation levelled by the Congress, saying “where they get a majority, that system is fine, but when they don’t, it’s bad”.
