Bihar Election 2025 Candidate List LIVE Updates: BJP ends suspense, releases first list of 71 candidates; fields Samrat Choudhary from Tarapur

As per the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the District Election Officers (DEOs) of all the 20 districts of Bihar going to elections in Phase-II have completed the first randomization of EVM-VVPATs, which had passed the First Level Checking (FLC) on October 13, 2025. After the first randomisation, a total of 53,806 Ballot Units (BUs), 53,806 Control Units (CUs), and 57,746 VVPATs were randomly allotted to the 122 Assembly Constituencies having 45,388 Polling Stations: Election Commission

BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal says, “Many people did not expect the list to be released so quickly. First, the seat-sharing was completed by the NDA alliance. While the Maha-Gathbandhan was still deliberating, the NDA alliance finalized its seat-sharing. Early this morning, they also took steps to mobilize support. As I had mentioned, the NDA is like the five Pandavas—a strong alliance. We are set to form the government with a clear majority under the leadership of Nitish Kumar…”

On being announced as party candidate from Bankipur, state minister & BJP leader Nitin Nabin says,” I want to thank the party’s central and state leadership for having faith in me. I also express my gratitude to the people of Bankipur. There are many issues, including road connectivity in Bankipur, which are getting resolved.”

On being asked about rumours of Nitish Kumar being upset, he says, “For politics of bargaining, Lalu Yadav ji floated such information in the market. Because he was unable to bargain with Congress, he did this. NDA alliance of five Pandavas – Nitish Kumar, PM modi, Chirag, Majhi ji, Upendra Kushwaha will end corrupt Kauravas.”

The BJP has announced the first list of 71 candidates for the Bihar polls. According to the list, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary to contest from Tarapur, Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha from Lakhisarai, Minister Nitin Nabin from Bankipur and Renu Devi to contest from Bettiah.

JD(U) leader Ranvijay Singh says, “Our respected senior leaders are aware of the situation and are handling things. We are hopeful that everything will be resolved soon”.

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi says, “In the INDI Alliance, people are attacking each other with poems and couplets. I also want to say in one line for Lalu Prasad Yadav is: ‘Kitna karein chaturai, karm ka lekha mitega na, bhai.'”

It was reported that alliance partners of INDIA bloc took jibe in poems in late night meeting on Monday.

State BJP President Dilip Jaiswal says, “There is no resentment anywhere, everything is fine. The NDA will fight the elections with complete rock-solid unity.”

Chirag Paswan, National President, Lok Janshakti Party, takes to social media, says the alliance is ready for Bihar battle.

“The issue of seat allocation ( in Bihar) among NDA parties has been resolved through amicable discussions. The discussion on which party will contest which seat is also in its final stage with positive talks. Under the leadership of Modi ji and Nitish ji, all NDA parties are fully prepared with unity,” he said.

On NDA seat sharing, RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari says, “NDA’s ship will sink this time. This is decided. NDA has ruled in Bihar for 17 years…It has written the script for Bihar’s destruction…There is going to be a big change in Bihar’s politics soon…Everything is well in the Mahagathbandhan, and the announcement regarding seat sharing will be made at any time now…”

In more trouble for the JDU, party MP from Bhagalpur, Ajay Kumar Mandal, resigns from his position as Member of Parliament, alleging he was not consulted in the election ticket distribution ahead of Assembly elections.

Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Bihar from October 16 to 18.

“NDA has declared its seat-sharing, while the opposition is yet to do so. All NDA parties are united, and we have almost finalised which seat will go to which party. We will try to announce our candidates by this evening,” he said.

JD(U) supporters of Anil Kumar Yadav staged a protest at the Chief Minister’s residence, demanding a party ticket for Virendra Kumar from Navinagar. They opposed giving the ticket to any outsider, amid speculations that it might go to Anand Mohan or his son.

RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said that cracks in the NDA have begun to appear.

“…and intense turmoil has erupted. Tensions are rising in NDA. The people of Bihar are determined to form a Tejashwi-led government that provides abundant employment…” he added.

JD(U) MLA Gopal Mandal waits outside CM Nitish Kumar’s house, says, “I want to meet the CM. I have been waiting here since 0830 hours. I will get the election ticket. I won’t go without getting it.”

RJD president Lalu Prasad handed out party tickets to candidates he supports, even as the INDIA bloc, led by his party in Bihar, has not yet finalised its seat-sharing plan, a PTI report said.

A large crowd gathered outside 10 Circular Road, the residence of Lalu’s wife and former CM Rabri Devi, when the couple returned from Delhi, where they had appeared in court. The exact number of candidates receiving RJD tickets was unclear.

Among the key candidates receiving RJD symbols were Sunil Singh from Parbatta, who recently left JD(U), and Narendra Kumar Singh, also known as Bogo, a former MLA from Matihani who had previously won the seat twice for the JD(U).

This move is seen as part of a strategy by Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader’s son and heir, to attract support from Bhumihars, a powerful upper-caste group that has traditionally backed the BJP-led NDA.

Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the call for giving Bhojpuri official language status and awarding the Bharat Ratna posthumously to legendary folk artist Bhikhari Thakur is gaining attention in the Shahabad region.

Bhojpuri is widely spoken in districts including Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Buxar, Saran, East and West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Jehanabad. The Shahabad region specifically covers Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, and Kaimur districts.

Sudama Prasad, CPI(ML) Liberation MP from Arrah in Bhojpur, said these demands have been raised in Parliament and through letters to the authorities for a long time. However, he noted that both the state and the NDA-led central government have not acted on them. He added that ignoring these demands could have political consequences for the NDA in the upcoming elections.

Tejashwi Yadav, will contest the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 from Raghopur seat. He will file his nomination on October 15, marking his third consecutive election from this constituency. Raghopur is considered a high-profile seat in Bihar because of Tejashwi’s presence. There are also reports that Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, may contest from the same seat.

The Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), headed by Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, on Monday revealed the names of 21 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

A day after the NDA announced its seat-sharing plan for the Bihar Assembly elections, the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by former poll strategist Prashant Kishor, on Monday released its second list with names of 65 candidates.
