Bihar Election 2025 Vote Counting Time and Schedule: Votes polled during the recent Bihar assembly election will be counted at various locations across the state from Friday morning. Elaborate security arrangements have been made at 46 centres in 38 districts with the process set to begin from 8:00 am. Exit polls have overwhelmingly heralded the possibility of an NDA victory — with the Mahagathbandhan projected to get less than 100 seat.
According to an update from the Election Commission, the counting process will begin with postal ballots at 8:00 am. The counting of EVMs will start at 8.30 am.
Security measures in place
“Counting arrangements have been made in all the 243 assembly constituencies. The exercise will be conducted by 243 Returning Officers in the presence of 243 Counting Observers and the candidates or their agents. A total of 4,372 counting tables, each staffed with one supervisor, counting assistant and micro-observer have been set up. More than 18,000 Counting Agents appointed by the nominees will also oversee the process,” the Election Commission said in a statement.
A significant number of Central Armed Police Force and Bihar Police personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure smooth counting and prevent any untoward incidents. Officials told PTI that 106 companies of security personnel from outside the state have also been deployed. The EVMs and VVPATs used in the elections currently remain sealed inside strong rooms under a double-lock system.
“A two-tier security has been ensured at the counting centres. While the inner tier has been assigned to the CAPF, state police have been deployed at the outer rung. Besides, 24/7 CCTV surveillance and other security provisions are in place,” an official added.

What do exit polls say? Will there be a hung assembly?
All major exit polls predicted a return of the NDA government in Bihar with a big victory over the Mahagathbandhan. They also unanimously forecast a poor electoral debut for Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party. While most exit polls suggest a comeback for the Nitish Kumar-led NDA, the possibility of a tight race, with no side crossing the halfway mark, still looms large. This possibility was also highlighted in the exit poll results shared by Axis My India.
