Assembly Elections 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched scathing attacks on each other ahead of crucial assembly elections in Rajasthan. Both the leaders began their campaigns today in the state with rallies at six different places. Earlier today, the Prime Minister took on the Congress over issues ranging from 26/11 attack to the surgical strike and caste attack to corruption during UPA rule.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi, too, addressed a rally in the state. In a rally at Pokhran, the Congress chief promised to give loan waiver to farmers within 10 days of coming back to power. He also accused the prime minister of insulting those who built this country. He said: “Mr Modi says India was a sleeping giant before he became Prime Minister. This is an insult to all the Indians who have built this nation.” This morning, Rahul visited Ajmer Dargah and Pushkar temple.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi hit out at the grand old party on how it handled the Mumbai terror attack ten years ago. He said: “I remember, election campaigns were underway when the Mumbai attack happened. That time, when anyone dared to criticise the attack, these Rajdarbaari tried to shut them up.” Modi also said that the country will never forget the Mumbai terror attack. “Justice will surely be done, I want to assure the country,” the PM said in Bhilwara.
After Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress are face-to-face in Rajasthan, which will vote on December 7.
