Amit Shah Rally in Maharashtra Today Updates: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday hit out at the Congress and NCP for opposing the Modi government’s move to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing an election rally at Jat in Sangli, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for doing a “great job”. He said that the Prime Minister has ensured national security. Slamming the Congress and NCP, he said, “Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar should make it clear if they favour scrapping of Article 370.” The BJP president maintained that under PM Modi’s watch, the national security has strengthened and the entire world now knows that “10 enemies will be killed if one Indian jawan is martyred”. He said that while referring to the Balakot air strike after the Pulwama terror attack. The Bharatiya Janata Party has joined the ranks with the Shiv Sena. While the BJP is trying its luck from 150 seats, the Shiv Sena is in the fray from 124 constituencies. The remaining 14 seats have been allotted to the remaining NDA constituents. The BJP and Shiv Sena have set a target of winning more than 200 of the 288 seats. The ruling dispensation is facing a direct challenge from the Congress-NCP combine. However, several opinion polls have predicted an easy win for the NDA.

In a big setback for Shiv Sena ahead of Maharashtra Assembly elections, 26 of its corporators and close to 300 workers have resigned from the party in protest against the seat sharing dealing finalised with Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing a rally in Mangalwedha in Solapur district, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis exuded confidence that the BJP-Shiv Sena government will return to power in the state.
"Congress and NCP did not do anything for 15 years except giving false and misleading promises. But after our government came to power five years back, we worked for the poor, downtrodden, tribals, minorities, farmers, OBCs and women, and tried to bring about a transformation (in their lives)," he said.
Addressing an election rally, Home Minister Amit Shah said that whrn the BJP government scrapped Article 370, the Congress and its ally NCP opposed the decision. "When Modi ji scrapped Article 370, Congress and NCP opposed its abrogation. When entire country wanted integration of Kashmir to India they opposed it. Rahul Gandhi said that 'Kashmir me khoon ki nadiya beh jayengi' but no bullet had to be fired."
Reacting to Rafale 'Shastra Puja', NCP chief Sharad Pawar said, "I have no doubts on the decision taken for national security. But I have read, I don't know if it is true, but what can one say when lemon-chilli is hung on Rafale aircraft with the idea of protecting it from curse just like it's hung on a newly-purchased truck."
BJP president Amit Shah, another star campaigner of the saffron alliance, is slated to address 18 rallies starting from Latur district this week, party sources said. Abhimanyu Pawar, former personal assistant of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is the BJP candidate from Ausa in Latur district.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray also took a dig at the Congress saying that the state leaders should accept the defeat as Rahul Gandhi is going abroad instead of campaigning for the party in Maharashtra. Addressing a rally in Ahmednagar district on Wednesday, Thackeray said, "Congress leaders in Maharashtra should accept the defeat and go home istead of contesting the assembly elections. Their leader (Rahul Gandhi) has gone to Bangkok."

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hit out at the opposition, particularly the Congress, saying they have accepted defeat ahead of the Assembly polls as seen by Rahul Gandhi's absence from the poll campaign. "They are already in defeatist frame of mind. I read in newspapers that Rahul Gandhi is in Bangkok," Fadnavis said at a rally at Ner in Dhule district of north Maharashtra.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Maharashtra between October 13 and 15 to campaign for the party. However, the details of his visit were yet to be finalised. He has come under attack from the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena for not turning up yet for the Congress's Maharashtra Assembly poll campaign.
Maharashtra Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat has said that there has been no discussion about merger of the NCP so far. Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde had on October 8 said the NCP and the Congress will soon merge.
