The Vande Bharat sleeper train is likely to revolutionise long-distance overnight train travel on major rail routes in India. Indian Railways is set to introduce this sleeper train with an entirely new design, and it is anticipated to be launched by February 2024. Indian Railways said that the Vande Bharat sleeper train will be a “world-class,” “class-apart” train set, with a distinct “wow” factor.
This train, hailed as a “superior” service, is slated to eventually replace the Rajdhani Express trains. Key features of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train
Vande Bharat sleeper train production: The production of this premium train has already begun in October at BEML Limited’s Bangalore complex. The train is being manufactured by BEML in collaboration with Indian Railways’ coach factory ICF.
Vande Bharat sleeper train composition: The upcoming Vande Bharat sleeper train is poised to have a total of 16 coaches – 11 AC 3-tier coaches, 4 AC 2-tier coaches and 1 AC 1st coach. Additionally, the train will have as many as 823 berths.
Vande Bharat sleeper train speed: The Vande Bharat sleeper train will also be capable of running at speeds of 160 kmph, just like the AC chair car version, making it a semi-high speed train set as well. The train will reduce the travel time significantly as it will have faster acceleration and deceleration.
Vande Bharat sleeper train exterior: The exterior of the sleeper train is similar to the Vande Bharat Express. It will be aerodynamic, which is a nose cone similar to bullet trains in terms of looks. Moreover, the upcoming train will have a driving cabin at each end.
Vande Bharat sleeper train interiors: The train’s interiors are expected to be the “wow” factor. According to BEML, the new train will have “best-in-class interiors”. The interiors are expected to be something that has never been seen before in India as the inspiration has been taken from very super trains that run in foreign countries.
Vande Bharat sleeper train amenities: The Vande Bharat sleeper train will be equipped with contemporary passenger facilities, a modular pantry, well-designed odor-free toilet facilities, sensor-driven intercommunication doors, automatic exterior passenger doors, hot water showers in the 1st AC carriage, and noise insulation and noise reduction measures to create a tranquil interior environment.
Vande Bharat sleeper train features: According to officials, the Vande Bharat sleeper trains are expected to provide a smooth and bump-free journey thanks to their semi-permanent couplers. Additionally, the train’s advanced bogie design will enhance the overall riding comfort, and it will be equipped with safety features designed to withstand potential collisions.
Vande Bharat sleeper train safety blanket: The Vande Bharat sleeper train will be equipped with the domestically created KAVACH anti-train collision system. Initially, BEML will produce 10 Vande Bharat sleeper trains for Indian Railways. While BEML is responsible for the train’s construction, the propulsion systems are being provided by ICF.
