Central Railway (CR) in an official statement has announced the scheduling of integrated traffic and power blocks on the CSMT-Kalyan and Kalyan-Karjat sections for December 21/22 and December 22/23. These blocks, which will take place between 1:00 am and 4:30 am on both dates, are essential for the launching of girders for critical infrastructure development.
The infrastructure blocks are being carried out in the interest of improving passenger services. Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly, as delays and diversions are expected. CR has requested cooperation from the public during the block period.
The Central Railway has also stated that shadow blocks on the Kalyan-Ambarnath section will be operated in addition to the major blocks, with further train adjustments to be made as necessary.
Central Railways Block 1 Details: December 21/22 (Saturday/Sunday Midnight)
The first block is aimed at the launch of girders for the following projects:
- 3rd new Patripul Road Over Bridge (ROB) between Thakurli and Kalyan
- 12-meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Ulhasnagar
- ROB in lieu of Level Crossing (LC) Gate between Kalyan and Ambarnath
- 6-meter wide FOB at Neral
During this block, traffic will be restricted on the following lines:
- Dombivili-Kalyan UP & Down slow lines (including platforms – excluding crossovers)
- Dombivili-Kalyan UP & Down fast lines (excluding platforms and crossovers)
- Kalyan-Ambarnath UP & Down slow and fast lines (excluding platforms and crossovers)
- 5th & 6th lines (excluding platforms and crossovers)
Impact of block on train services
Several trains will face regulation and diversions:
- Train No. 11087 (Veraval-Pune Express) will be regulated by 10 minutes at Bhiwandi station.
- Diversion of trains:
- DN Trains (e.g., LTT-Hatia Express, CSMT-Varanasi Mahangari Express, LTT-Gorakhpur Kushinagar Express) will be diverted via the 5th line between Thane & Kalyan.
- UP Trains (e.g., Shalimar-LTT Express, Howrah-CSMT Express, Gorakhpur-LTT Express) will be diverted via the 6th line between Kalyan & Diva/Thane.
- UP Trains from the south-east direction (e.g., Bhubaneswar-CSMT Konark Express, Vishakapatnam-LTT Express) will be diverted via Karjat-Panvel with halts at Panvel and Thane stations.
Central Railways Block 2 Details: December 22/23 (Sunday/Monday Midnight)
The second block will primarily focus on launching girders for the 3rd new Patripul Road Over Bridge between Thakurli and Kalyan. The affected sections are:
- Dombivili-Kalyan UP & Down slow lines (including platforms – excluding crossovers)
- Dombivili-Kalyan UP & Down fast lines (excluding platforms and crossovers)
- 5th & 6th lines (excluding platforms and crossovers)
Impact of block on train services
Several trains will experience delays or diversions:
- Train Regulation:
- Train No. 18030 (Shalimar-LTT Express) and Train No. 12810 (Howrah-CSMT Express) will be regulated at Titwala and Khadavli stations by 15 minutes, respectively.
- Train No. 12132 (Sainagar Shirdi-Dadar Express) will also experience delays.
- Diversion of trains:
- Train No. 11020 (Bhubaneswar-CSMT Konark Express) will be diverted via Karjat-Panvel, with halts at Panvel and Thane.
- Other Mail/Express trains on the 6th line will operate on the UP fast line between Kalyan and Diva.
Suburban train changes and adjustments
Suburban services will be suspended between Kalyan and Thane during the block period. Adjustments to suburban services include:
- On Saturday, December 21:
- CSMT-Tilwala locals will be extended up to Kasara.
- Several local trains, including the CSMT-Badlapur and Ambarnath-CSMT locals, will be cancelled or short-terminated.
- On Sunday, December 22:
- Certain CSMT-Asangaon and Tilwala-CSMT locals will be short-terminated or short-originated.
- Several local trains, including CSMT-Ambarnath and Karjat-CSMT locals, will be cancelled.
