The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is moving forward like a comet, blazing with unstoppable momentum. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has achieved a significant milestone with the full span box girder launching gantry, gracefully winding its way back to the casting yard, shifting gears with finesse. This gantry has placed 290 sleek girders spanning 12 kilometers in one direction. Now, poised for the next phase, this gantry gears up to install an additional 380 girders in the opposite direction, marking a decisive leap towards an accelerated future.
What are girders and Why are they important?
Girders form the base upon which the railway tracks are laid. They must be exceptionally strong to withstand the high speeds and weight of bullet trains. In many cases, bullet train tracks are elevated to avoid obstacles and optimize speed. Girders are essential in constructing these elevated sections. Designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and seismic activity, girders contribute significantly to the overall stability of the bullet train infrastructure.
The NHSRCL recently shared a video of an awe-inspiring voyage with the full span box girder launching gantry, maneuvering back to the casting yard, a symphony of precision and engineering marvel in motion. Watch here:
With each girder meticulously placed, the project not only strengthens infrastructure but also paves the way for future advancements in high-speed rail technology.
