In anticipation of the massive gathering for Mauni Amavasya on January 29, the Prayagraj Railway Division has announced the operation of more than 150 special trains. This initiative has been taken for ensuring seamless travel for the millions attending the grand event at the Maha Kumbh. The special trains will run direction-wise from all nine stations in Prayagraj, officials stated on Wednesday.

Special arrangements for smooth journey

Several measures have been taken up by the division like organised shelter facilities for passengers and colour coded ticketing for enhancing travel experience. Amit Malviya, senior Public Relations Officer of the Prayagraj Railway Division told ANI that most of the special trains will run from Prayagraj Junction. Regular trains will continue to operate on their scheduled services along with additional operations.

Malviya underlined that the scale of the arrangements for operating more than 150 special trains on a single day would set a record and will cross the mark of 85 trains managed during Mauni Amavasya at Kumbh 2019. As per the plan, a train will dispatch every 4 four minutes, this ambitious initiative displays the divisions’ commitment to accommodate the unprecedented influx of devotees.

All about Mauni Amavasya

The upcoming Mauni Amavasya is slated to be the largest bathing festival of the Maha Kumbh, with more than 10 crore devotees anticipated to take the holy dip at the Sangam. Out of which, about 10 -20 percent of the attendees are expected to opt for a travel journey. On the day of Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti, more than 101 fair special trains have operated to manage the surge of 3.5 crore devotees.

With the ongoing preparations, the Prayagraj Railway Division is all set to break the previous records and provide hassle free rides for this grand spiritual gathering.
