Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Indore, the financial hub of Madhya Pradesh, is undergoing a significant transformation into a major railway hub with projects worth thousands of crores.
Vaishnaw made the announcement on Friday during the inauguration of the primary campaign office for Ramesh Mendola, the incumbent BJP MLA representing Indore-2 and the party’s candidate for the upcoming assembly elections.
Indore – A prominent railway center
To elevate Indore’s status as a prominent railway center, extensive projects are currently in progress, involving the investment of thousands of crores of rupees. These projects encompass the expansion of new railway lines in six different directions within the city, as well as the doubling of existing railway lines and gauge conversions.
Notable among these initiatives are the Ratlam-Indore-Mhow-Khandwa-Akola rail line, the Indore-Manmad rail line, the Indore-Dahod rail line, and the Indore-Jabalpur rail line.
Upgrading Indore’s existing railway stations
Additionally, Vaishnaw highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of Indore‘s main railway station and Laxmibai Nagar railway station, with aspirations to make them world-class facilities.
Furthermore, there is active development underway for a multi-modal cargo terminal in the region.
