RITES, in partnership with ItalCertifier SPA, has been awarded a contract to conduct an independent safety assessment (ISA) of the Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The contract was granted by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, a production unit under the Ministry of Railways.
It involves various tasks including design reviews, final safety acceptance assessments, and the review of test results. The consortium will conduct design reviews, final safety acceptance assessments, and review test results.
It may be noted that the railway is working vigorously to launch the sleeper version of this modern train. Indian Railways has stated that the Vande Bharat sleeper train will be a “world-class,” “class-apart” train set, with a distinct “wow” factor.
Vande Bharat Sleeper trains to replace Rajdhani Express
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper version will mark a new era for Indian Railways. It is expected to gradually replace the existing Rajdhani Express trains.
The new version of the Vande Bharat series will offer modern amenities and the latest features, ensuring passenger comfort and safety. This initiative is set to significantly enhance passenger travel experience in the country.
Vande Bharat Sleeper trains features
Earlier, while discussing the features of Vande Bharat sleeper coaches, the railway minister had highlighted that the vibration and noise levels inside these coaches will be significantly reduced. He mentioned that the design of the roof, car body, and load has been enhanced to increase their capacities.
The sleeper train will offer a total of 67 berths, and the design of the climbing ladder for the sleeper berth, particularly the foot contact area, will be more accessible and user-friendly.
Additionally, the air conditioning system will be improved, and the cushions will have tech-enabled features, providing passengers with a new experience. Furthermore, the train will offer better-designed mobile charging and storage spaces.
