Delhi, along with several parts of north India, is grappling with a relentless cold wave and dense fog, causing significant delays in both rail and air travel. The biting cold and reduced visibility have led to the delay of 30 trains in and around the capital, creating an unwelcome hurdle for commuters.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that these cold to severe cold wave conditions will persist across the northwestern plains for the next three days. Passengers expecting a smooth journey into the capital were met with disruptions, ranging from minor 30-minute setbacks to substantial 6-hour delays.

The meteorological agency reported the presence of a fog patch over northern and north-eastern states, leading to low visibility in airports located in these regions. “Layer of fog is seen from Punjab to northeast India across Haryana, North MP, UP, Bihar and West Bengal at 0530 hrs IST. The patches of fog are also seen along the east coast of India as shown in the attached Satellite Imagery,” the IMD said in a post on X.
