Attention Indian Railway passengers! The Western Railway has announced the cancellation of several trains originating from or passing through Ahmedabad on January 31 and February 1 to facilitate the construction of a truss bridge in Gujarat’s Kheda district.

According to an official statement released on Tuesday, a “block” will be implemented on Wednesday and Thursday for the construction of a steel truss bridge near Uttarsanda station on the Vadodara-Geratpur section.

As many as 13 trains, including passenger and express services, will be affected by the cancellations. The cancelled trains include Vadodara-Ahmedabad passenger special, Ahmedabad-Vadodara passenger special, Vadodara-Ahmedabad MEMU special, Ahmedabad-Vadodara MEMU special, Gandhinagar-Anand MEMU special, Ahmedabad-Vadodara Intercity Express, and Vadodara-Ahmedabad Intercity Express, among others.

Additionally, four trains will be “partially cancelled” during these two days. The Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Express will be short-terminated at Vadodara, while the Ahmedabad-Valsad Gujarat Queen Express will commence its journey from Vadodara instead of Ahmedabad. Furthermore, the Jamnagar-Vadodara Intercity Express will be short-terminated at Ahmedabad.

The construction work will also lead to the regulation of 13 trains, resulting in delays ranging from 10 minutes to more than three hours. The Western Railway has assured that efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience to passengers and to restore normal operations as soon as the construction work is completed.
