Japan visa: In a detailed Reddit post, an Indian traveller shared his experience of successfully obtaining a 5-year multiple entry visa for Japan after applying through VFS Pune under the Mumbai Embassy. The post has since gained attention among frequent travellers for its practical insights and realistic expectations.
The traveller mentioned that he specifically requested a multiple entry visa while applying and received approval after a 2.5-week processing period.
First-time applicant with recent Schengen visa
“Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience getting a 5-year multiple entry Japan visa. I specifically requested for it in the hopes of getting it and finally I got it after 2.5 weeks,” he wrote.
He described himself as an Indian traveller who had recently visited Europe but had no other international travel history. This was his first time applying for Japan. His travel plan included a 10-day trip covering Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
Detailed documents and a polite cover letter
According to his post, the documents he submitted included a filled visa form, a detailed itinerary with hotel names and dates, a cover letter explaining his purpose of visit, bank statements from the last three months, ITR for the last three years, an NOC from his employer, and a rent agreement as address proof.
He believes that his recent Europe travel history with a Schengen visa and a stable income record helped his case. “Payslips were not needed,” he clarified.
“Polite, concise cover letter with a note that I plan to visit Japan again in the coming years for tourism and learn about Japanese culture. I used Chat GPT for cover letter,” he added humorously.
Stable income and clear intent made the difference
In the end, his patience paid off. “Got my passport back in 2.5 weeks. 5-year multiple entry, 90 days per stay. Honestly didn’t expect it, but I think strong travel history plus stable income did the trick,” he concluded.
The post has encouraged many first-time travellers to consider requesting multiple entry visas proactively, especially if they can show consistent income and previous travel records.
