There is good news for skilled workers looking to immigrate permanently to Canada. On September 19, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sent out 3,200 invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system. The Rank required to be invited to apply is 3,200 or above and the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited has been set at 531. If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

For those looking to immigrate permanently through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and a portion of the Provincial Nominee Program, Express Entry is Canada’s premier application management system. A streamlined and effective approach to immigration is available for people with knowledge in vital disciplines through Canada’s Express Entry system.

Recently, it was announced that Express Entry will undergo modifications by encouraging candidates with particular work experience or fluency in French to apply for permanent residency. Candidates with trades knowledge, such as carpentry, plumbing, and welding, are sought after because they will aid Canada’s building industry in luring the country’s skilled labor force.

On May 31, 2023, it was announced that category-based selection would begin, allowing skilled immigrants with prior employment history to apply for permanent residency.

Following thorough talks with partners from the provinces and territories, stakeholders, and members of the public, as well as an evaluation of market demands, the categories were established.

Additionally, this week, the first round of invitations for transport occupations through category-based selection in Express Entry has also been announced.
